[No Gut No Glory]

So I have started on a chaos sorcerer reading tutorials and stuff here. hoping to get a smoother nicer miniature.
So, I just started with glazes and the idea that there is a strong lightsource on the right of the model.

Please give me tips! I am hear to learn.

Worked some more on the skirt and started on the armour.

so i may assume that source of light is somewer from the staff or other place on right side (of photo )
hym looks caind of "oily" what paint you use and what camera to get photos ?
other thing is how you shade this red ?? (with black ?? )

White basecoar to paint red = good
Zenithal 2 color basecoat = iven better

Hi Maru, thanks for replying.

I use mostly citadel paints. The shading has been done with a dark blue mixed with the red and g;azing it on, to try and contrast the warm yellow.
I think the oily look comes from the camera shot. I took it to the best of my abilities.

I tried to google the Zenithal 2, could not reallt find anything about it.

The lightsource comes from outside the figure to the right. Might be a demonic portal, or hellfire.

The whole theme of the figure will be 'colors of chaos' And all four colors of the warhammer chaos world will be represented.

Zenital light basecoat

so base idea to shade somthing is to mix your color with complementary one in case of red it is green so mix of red + green - thats base shadow
this + blue = cold shadow
this + black = dark shadow
red shaded with blue = temperature change but not exacly natural shadow

o my "Mu little Pony" actualy look at some Ctan's works .. i think he try somthing like that mix

Well, I did some work on the shading of the skirt. Trying the tips of Maru. the shading looked more solid to me and more natural indeed. So thanks!
Also worked on the armour and neckplate.
The neckplate is nurgle green.

I also tried to get a better picture. In my opinion this is way better then the first ones. I diffused the light more by putting some paper in front of the light and used two lights. Went way in with my camera. Which is a Kodak EasyShare Z740. Quite a generic camera.

ye red looks much more natural now
not so much rubber like
Shading yellow/ green part - same idea add oposicion to base color (in this case it is purple)

a sphere to make things easer
tho - i have no idea whats going on with lower part of armor ?? is that metalic ??
a rusty red gold will not contrast well with this red robes (unless you will balance this well with temperature )

about camera - will check what he can do and let you know
beside diffused light is your tool /:) (not only with mini photography )
you mey also try grey baccground as automatic White balance actualy serch not for white but certain neutral grey color to calibrate
a blue gradient is nice to (cameras tend to get good White balance on thous )

Yes, I am using metallics for the armour. They also in the army this figure is for.
Might fill in the lower parts with blue (for tzeentch), I also plan to do that on the shoulders.
I am not used to highlight/OSL metallics, so still trying there.

After due consideration I decided to NMM the armour. My first time trying this so don't be harse on me. My thought is that it's to yellow, that it need some more brown.
