bases, bases... even if these are gaming pieces, they still need something on their bases
as for painting - why don't you try darklining and highlighting edges? this would be rather quick and easy way to improve their look (especially on the gaming table).
What he said: lack of bases done is just SO distracting...
Apart from that - if you don't feel like darklining and highlighting edges you could at least apply some washes to create shadows here and there: it should also make the models look more eyecatching
I think it's my lack of great photography talent that the shaows don't appear.I used washes and lining.
Wel here is somthing totally different. i painted this army up for a friend of my. The deal was that I painted it so it would look nice from a distance (like on the picture.) The more special guys got some extra attention. But it's all fairly low gamer standard. But he was on a very strict budget so we compromised. Not evrything is based, because my friend is doing that himself. I really like how this paint scheme worked out. It's very striking in my opinion. Sorry the photo is a bit of a mess, didn't take it myself, but I liked to showcase this because i painted 3000 to 3500 points of skeletons. Annoyingly brittle skeletons:
they look good as a group
my only remark would be the big monster thing, which could be the army centrepiece, but is dark and not as eye-catching. some lighter elements would be a good choice for that model, I think
Isee what uyou mean, I made a choice. The color of his 'skin' is the same as his terrain. So it's like a statue from that terrain came alive. It's quite a large part of the model, so get's muted very easily.
