This was one of the first miniatures I've painted since starting again. Painted it as a gift for a very close friends who I've spent most of my life trying to hit with various forms of medieval weaponry! Lol!

Finding it really tough to take decent pictures of my work. But this one turned out ok.
Since this I've finished the scale 75 Leonidas as well, and have the drow and Brock the barbarian to get to work on!
My issues are that I'm so out of touch I need to learn the newer techniques of painting...I'm still using base coats, washes and dry brushing......so I need to really get to grips with more current techniques

I we've already discussed drybrushing in your WIP topic, so I won't repeat myself here :)
few more quick comments:
1. contrast - never enough of that ;) Take a look at white cloth at his chest - that's a good contrast.
2. skin could use some colour variations, as of now it looks rubbery, unrealistic.
3. try to define elements with some darklining - look at belts at is waist. they are all mixed into one unrecognisable brown pulp. some dark lines between them and maybe a stronger highlights on upper edges would make them pop.
4. maybe something more for the base?

Your friend should be really happy ;)
As for painting - it's large model so highlighting edges should be quite easy (leather elements) - imo such trick would make the piece look even better.

For me the contrast way too big, i.e. on the white shirt. Since it is a historical mini, the blue shades look unrealistic. I wish I could see it from more angle, is the back painted? ;)

Sadly this figure now resides in Canada! Lol!
I only have photos of the front and none of them do it justice I feel.
I'll see if my photography skills improve for Brock (WIP thread) when he is finished.
