Texture on paper banners?

Yo,
Last night I was thinking about some final bits to be added to my standard bearer and I started thinking about the banner itself:
it will be paper for sure but I'd like to give it a look of actual fabric.
My first thought to do that was painting the banner and then trying to apply cloth texture using t-shirt or sth: tress the pattern using very small amount of paint, like in a drybrush. It's still under development so have you got any experience with such thing?

What about a green stuff banner and then pressing some cloth into it when it's nearly cured. That should leave some kind of impression, right? Maybe just enough to see...

I thought about it but imo such banner would be too thick

you could always look into different grades of paper or even recycled paper has a more rougher look and feel to it, rather than trying to stick stuff to it. Would save you a lot of time.

there is a paper that has cotton fibers and looks almost like textile, they are used to make wedding invitations and thing like that.
they are double the thickness of regular paper.
do a search on washi paper ( looks like my origami skill are of use

Yeah, sure

Anyway last evening while waiting for garden gnome to dry I started painting paper banner a bit and I thought painting some scrathes and semi-texture should be doable especially if banner is planned to be battleworn.
Cheers all for help!

I've heard of using a used teabag to texture a paper banner. Just by rubbing it over paper banner it ages and textures it.

Too bad I haven't read it week ago when I was preparing banner

Will definitely give it a try the next time.
