Long time reader, first time poster.

Love the site, love the work people post. I self-taught..well read everything I know, and I would really like to get some nice feedback on how to get better. Just need some direction on specific areas to really pay attention to next time so I can work on those. I'm a baby-step learner :)

First up: My First BIG project! I've dabbled before. I started painting Puppet Wars by Wyrd. 50 puppets! I first started by making my own box for it. I used a vinyl machine and a computer program to cut out the design for the top of the box.

My first three puppets:

They didn't turn out very well. But I was learning.

Close to the end:

The second set of these puppets turned out MUCH better imo.

Besides glueing all the bases to balsa wood and staining them with an ink wash, this is the only other "basing" type thing I did. The effect grew on me.

My favorite- the chihuahua

He turned out really nice imo

Please, I would love some critiques, I would really like to get better. I did get better as I finsihed more puppets, and there are several here that I know could be better for my level of painting and I just don't know how to take them to the next level.

One way would probably be to use the better paints. I use craftstore paints. I did just pick up a couple kolonsky brushes, and am fairly new to using flow aide and matte medium. After about 5 puppets I realized that my definition of thinning the paints was wrong. I just started realizing how to glaze and blend. I am working on Space Hulk 3rd ed now.

So please any helpful tips or C&C is welcome, trying to get waaaay better.

Thanks very much!

you caind of get in a wacation term so not to much ppl around
ppl sey paint should be thined to resemble sour cream not Nutella Butter :)
ok as you whant thini steps
all things look colorful but messy
try:
paint 1 mini as clean as you can , without shading (no inking ) just clean end sharp surfaces details not flouded with paint
end post then we will ce what next ;)

end yes chihuahua is actualy clenest miature you made but on realy low contrast (in terms of colors end lights) - but dont bother with now

welcome to the forum :)
my general recommendation would be - if you want to get better, get bigger minis :) it's really hard to practice painting skills on something as small as these puppets :)
