Okie, my next planned project will be painting an Iron Hands Plasmacannoneer (that's a mouthful). Anyway the idea for this project is to learn about OSL, gonna try to light the model mainly using the plasma glow from the gun - not sure how it will turn out, but I'm just gonna dive into it and find out.
First thing I'm gonna do is start the conversion, so here's where I am at right now.

Everything is bluetacked together cause I wanted to paint the parts separately.

Close up of the bionics in the leg. See all the ugly gaps? Will patch it up with greenstuff next.

It's not the angle, it is very BIG.

All the guns in the devastator squad are actually, they are meant to be held in both hands - right now a very big problem I have is... how do I balance it? hmmm

A lighting plan using Photoshop (it's easier to shift stuff around with fake paints

)
Looks fun to paint, but I'm a little worried about the parts not lit by the glow - should I use darker, greyed colors for the parts in darkness? or introduce another light source to light those areas with (like a auspex in left hand)?

IMO this will look great, the only issue that I have is that the cannon it self look more pale then the reflection of on the armor. I think you need a to add less white to the green base color, of the plasma generator, and use sharper highlights with more white in on it.
What armor color are you going for ?
Keep up the good work cant wait to see the mini with real pain on it.

Daniel
P.s. Wish I had time to paint.

it's easier to do it with real paints when you see what you're going for.

To counter balance it, you could just add a straight arm with a pointing finger, he has the head of a shouting guy, so basically he could just put down his plasma gun for a sec to show the target to his fellow companions and shout at them to shoot before arming himself

Of course that's just a suggestion
