Well, that was quick...
....the colour scheme for this mini comes from the Dragon age character Shale and he is a golem, artificiall creature made in the lab by some alchemist. The earth tones on him present the softer, primal material, which he is made of, basically it's supposed to be clay. The lighter the tone gets, the harder the material is, until it is close to pure diamond, which then shines with bright blue tones. Shale from Dragon age uses his arms as weapons, so he needs them to be very strong.
Personally I find the official colour scheme for this mini very dull, so I decided to make it spicier. And I liked the concept art of Shale more.

Well, that is understandable, since Golems are preety rare creatures, heh?
And do you know why Orcs are green? I do. But somebody maybe doesn't , but accept it as a fact. The same goes here.

I like the idea of the stone base, looks like marble.

and I like both the concept and the paintjob on the miniature. makes a boring stone miniature look much more interesting. on the other hand the base looks much worse than the miniature to me. maybe because I am used to black sides of bases, but this one looks like unfinished base that still hasn't been painted on its sides more than marble. maybe because of overexposed photos?

as you mey know to paint good blue crystals you need to paint them brick / red first (painting Mum blog)

a thing that bothers me - base dont corespondence with mini

Thanx for the comments. Yes, the colour of the base is overexposed in the photo , since I used the natural light from the top window. I ll try in the future to get some more balanced pics of it. I might even darken the tone of it some more, but it is supposed to be white marble ruins, so I can't change that.
the other reason for a tad bit dull character of the base is that I painted this mini for my son and he is going to use it as a gaming fig. So I didn't plan ona a spectacualr base at all.
Honestly thou, I could work some more on the whole mini, especially on the bright diamond parts on the hands, the original concept art after all is so nice, but I have so many more minis to paint, thah I wanted to finish it, like it is now.
