Salamanders Terminator

As a bit of a newbie to this forum, I thought I would post some of my recent works.

Here are some pictures of my 40k single entry for this year's Golden Demon in Australia. I love the archaic atmosphere that Space Marines have, so wanted to accentuate that as much as possible. The terminator armour is converted to be true-scale, there is gothic/renaissance style patterning on several areas of the figure and the portrait of the emperor is in the style of the period. I also wanted to get the feeling of the armour being a walking shrine, centuries old and having protected countless heroes over the years, hence the candles.

A huge thankyou to Weisern for the photos, and Roman (Jarhead) for the coin basing technique :D

I am constantly striving to improve my painting, so comments and criticism welcome!

pretty cool :)

don't you have problems with this mini toppling over? It looks top-heavy.

great job, love the smoothness of the armor and how you managed to achieve smooth contrast there.
the fine writing on purity seals looks excellent too

the first thing I would change is the cloak - the scales don't look very coherent, and the fact they cover only a part of the cloak makes it look odd to me. but it can be only my point of view.

well done!
and you have some cool coins there in OZ, perfect for basing.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

It seems the scales are a point of contention, so I will definitely try and do them differently if they come up on a miniature in the future. Perhaps more contrast is needed to make them look a bit more natural.

The coin is actually from Hungary which I got when I was over there earlier this year ^^

regarding the coin, I didn't mean the one you used, but those Australian coins I've seen/had.

the best ones (scenery-wise) we had must have been Spanish or Greek. can't recall now...

Really a fantastic paintjob. Roman is the best for good basing ideas and it fits perfect to this figure....! I really like the green. Greens are really hard to paint for me. It has a really great and clean overall look!
