Hello!

Post by MaGie »

Hi everyone!

After enjoying the great works of the CoC crew and the lovely articles on the site I thought it was time to finally register myself for this forum. My name is Maartje and I am joining you from The Netherlands. Some of you may already know me from other internet sites.
I have been painting miniatures for about 4 years, and about two years ago I started entering online contest which really improved my skills, I think. The works I see on here are really inspiring and I think it will help me improve much more :)

For those interested in my work, I have a CMON gallery and a small website.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all, to hear and give some feedback and I will try to be a good forum member

Hello and welcome.

I was browsing through your gallery and i like the range of miniatures you've done. For me my personal favourite is the dwarf as your NMM is nice with that one and the McVey model is really nice too. As i look through you gallery much of your models don't quite pop out or stand out to me, and i think partly because i'm a high contrast nut-job, but i feel that there is a bit too much base colour in your models and not enough shadows actually. You have nice highlights across the board and they are really well presented on the bases, but the models look a bit flat in areas. This is quite a generalised statement as it varies across your minis but that's just my initial feeling. You have a great eye on presentation so I hope we get to see more of your stuff soon.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)
Also lots of thanks Arctica for your suggestions. It's always great to get advice from inspiring painters. I see what you mean with increasing the shadows. It is definitely a great point that I will keep in mind with my next mini.
Now it's time for me to catch up on the forum posts!
