Hi there, fellow hobbyists,

On my quest to improve my painting, I wanted to share a shot of my entry for the Golden Camel competition that won in the category single miniature during the 3rd edition of the Dubai Red Tent Tournament. It was my "count as" Logan Grimnar:

I managed to get the gritty look I wanted, with the color tones that you can see on the cover of the Space Wolves codex, so overall, quite pleased with the result, apart from a couple of details:
- Lack of brush control (my freehand sucks, so are the eyes placement)
- I struggled to paint battle damage on the metallic armour (this bothers me)

Anything else I have missed? Comments & Critics are most welcome :)

Larger shot available on Flickr.

Cheers.

Well for me since i have the model in front of me, the reds still feel quite flat to me, i'd glaze some darker shades into it and some highlights, this is especially true on the cloak.

One of the more common comments i made while at the DRTT in dubai this weekend was that more consistent base colours would greatly improve most people's work, and some more definition to distinguish the different parts of the model.

Faces are always troublesome, but i think just being careful and giving it some more definition and more human colours works better.
