From CMON's site;
Tabletop Gaming News - now one of us!
We've just acquired Tabletop Gaming News, a blog that focuses on tabletop gaming in general, as compared to CMoN which is mostly about miniatures. Zac Belado, the Founding Editor, will be staying on and providing reviews and general editorial coverage. Ross Thompson will be taking over the daily responsibilities of posting news items and general site administration.
For those of you familiar with TGN, it's a staple of our industry and I'm very pleased to work with Zac on it. TGN will maintain the editorial sensibility set by Zac in terms of general, neutral coverage of tabletop games. To read Zac's and Ross's post on this, hit
https://www.tabletopgamingnews.com for their thoughts. If you have no idea what TGN is, now is a good time to find out!
I just hope this will not turn into CMON's personal promo site or White Dwarf if i may say it...

I don't think it's going to go wrong. If somebody has the money to make it even better - it's CMON.

well, I don't think they're stupid enough to make it TOO biased.
I think they're going to keep it open to public submissions of news but will keep the news moderated to avoid attacks on CMON, which I don't mind.
sure, they will want to gain something from this investment. I just hope the portal remains at least as nice as it used to be.

Well my first experience under the new ownership was that they deleted my comment
( first time ever on TTGN) I think the only posts anyone ever erased me in more than a decade was on the old rackham forums for the obvious reasons
...
So yes the old TTGN were we could just chat is errr gone..
Mahon they may have the all the money in the world but I would rather see TGN sold to a bunch of people who have no economic agenda in this industry...
CMON degenerated from a VERY nice painting community to what we see today, tutorial videos got the softporn covers with little content, painting comps got the golden brush hunt for the money, confrontation got the cheesy nonsense cash in boxes, galleries got used for making annual books to be sold, and TTGN just lost its independence and god knows what they will turn it into... so yes money is not everything here ( by the contrary).
I dont mind most of those things cmon does today because everything must be put in perspective and I'm forever thankful about all those years that CMON was a great place to motivate painters, the cmon store that has a good selection, cmon activities etc... If i had to make a balance sheet the pros do surpass the cons...
But I strongly believe TGN should have ended in other hands because I'm a strong believer that monopolies are not in our best interest.
So yes they will be busy erasing some posts in the future
