Chest of Colors forum

Hey everyone,

I'm a 22 year old painter from Sydney, Australia and was recommended here by the awesome Maru.

I've been painting since 2008 though have only really started getting into in the last year and a half. I try to paint minis across a variety of genres though its sci fi that I like the most (Infinity minis in particular). I really enjoy the process of painting and love creating something cool looking.


Without rambling on about myself too much, in short, I really look forward to being able to contribute and share some creativity/ ideas, miniatures and experience with the great community you all built here.

I've briefly checked your CMON gallery and I really like your work, the choice of colors is great, the finished product looks muted (in a good way) and the contrast is just right.

Do you play Infinity or do you just paint?

I'll definitely be looking to make a WIP thread soon. I have a mini that i'll be getting a start on early next week so hopefully i'll be able to start it then, as soon as it has a few coats of paint on it.

@Maru: Yep, finally got here!

@Corvus: Thanks! Infinity is one of the wargames I play pretty regularly (that and Tomorrow's War). I got drawn in by the minis but the idea of an ARO system and skirmish level battles got me interested in the game as well.

I've been curious about the infinity game itself for a while, how does it compare with other gaming systems?

On Infinity, its very different to other games through the mechanic of the ARO system. In your opponents turn you in most situations have the chance to react to what they're doing.

Another big difference is the order pool concept. Instead of each unit having a number of phases as such in which they have to go through (movement, shooting, etc) instead each one contributes an order to a pool in which any of your units can draw upon. If you like you could spend all your orders on one unit, divide them up over a few or spend them equally on everyone.

The game is pretty nicely balanced too, so you don't really have to worry about units being under or overpowered.

Its a great game to get into, and the rules are available for free on the official page. I'd definitely recommend downloading them and giving it a try when you get the chance
