Polaris Minor (CZ)

Post by Le6n »

Here is first official release from new czech producer Polaris Minor. He11_knight is the sculptor behind this project and he already produced two great minis of comic hero HellBoy.

First mini produced is Ogre Grandma, based on great original drawings from Larry MacDougal and his Arctic Myths series.

As the MacDougal's drawings and series atmosphere have lots of potential, don't think Granny will be alone for long time :) High quality of he11_knight's sculpts are also the promise of fine new miniature range on the market.

Ogre Granma(in size 40 mm) will be available in september 2011 for very fair price 200 CZK / 8.50 € and limited quantity to 30 pieces.

W.I.P. pictures and informations in czech language can be found on ModelForum, he11_knight's blog, to order minis, write to oleksandr.bilibov@gmail.com

one could wonder if it makes sense to release so few of them and make the price so affordable.

Fantastic mini, though there's no business.
Taxes aside, 8,50 x 30= 255 Euro.

Resin:
Mould circa 10 Euro
Each cast and base 1 Euro.
210 Euro, and that excludes packaging and labor for two artists and company.

Metal:
Masters 10-100 Euro
Mould 70 Euro
Each cast 1,5-2 Euro.
Not better here.

There is no testing here to be done, why make it limited?

useful info, Morf, thanks.
I dunno, we can just guess he's not interested in profits... maybe he wants to check interest, build his name as a sculptor, treats this as purely hobbyists activity. maybe he cuts his costs somehow making your calculations irrelevant.

nevertheless, it's still a cool mini :)

A fine mini that is, both concept and execution!

I think the number is so low because he molds them manually himself, with only one or two molds.

Nonetheless it looks quite serious, reminds me of some of the smaller French companies like Ammon.

EDIT: checked their blog and found this new WIP
