tuxit's wip

I am just waking up from a painting stop of 4 months (changing work conditions) and finding myself back behind my painting desk and a desire to do more wargaming again.
Most of my work now is focused to get some warmachine and malifaux minis painted to a pleasant tabletop standard which is still fast to paint. I tend to loose interest and motivation very quickly when doing unit style painting.

First a warmachine battlebox (Magnus the traitor) where I tried to get a very heavy rust effect on the warjacks. I use oilpaint and powders for this:

Next I am painting a unit of Cygnar longgunners. Not my most favorable minis to paint. I am doing the minimum unit of 6 and it was difficult to keep motivation. I show one in the picture, a group shot follows later when they are finished:

Next is a boxed set from Malifaux (Rasputina) :

I have to start on the ice golem.

As you see lots of stuff almost finished.

Let me know what you think.

Continuing my work on the jacks:

I am getting them nice rusted. Still not out how to finish the metals.

Next is the Ice Golem from Malifaux:

This one needs some highlighting and then it can join Rasputina.

Let me know what you think about them.

and I think the golem looks best! The highlighting looks interesting, only think I could suggest is that you shade the upper places a bit stronger.
Warmachine stuff - golden parts look flat, try darken. Armour plates look good, but lack highlights - maybe edging?
Those are WIPs, but I am saying it so you don't forget ;)

i totally agree with all that's been said so far, the ice golem by far is the best model yet and mahon's example is perfect as to how to finish it well. Using real-life examples always works well.

Contrast and being neat to separate different sections will make the minis look really good.
