Logan Grimnar

Here is Logan Grimnar, originaly a very nice sculpt, thou his legs look a bit undersized or out of proportion, compared to the rest of the body. At least to my taste. To solve this problem, I put him on a very massive base, so to give him an elevated position. In this way he looks more balanced and the top of the mini doesn't overpower the lower part. The axe is painted as a power weapon, it's not a NNM attempt.
So, this is the level of painting I've achieved so far . There is still a lot to improve thou.

Some of your colours work very well, your browns and earthy tones are really good. Your richer colours for me require a smoother application, at the moment they seem quite grainy and bitty. I like a smoother finish to the model, this could be the metal surface of the model which didn't get some much required surface prep or it could be the paints and application. For example the top of the hand gripping the axe isn't not smooth as you can see a very rough surface.
For your highlights you seem to adopt the usual gamesworkshop style of edge highlighting except with the axe which you've gone more for a shine similar to that of NMM. I would recommend with your highlights you want to improve on the contrast a bit more and push darker shadows and lighting highlights, almost like you've done with the axe but with a smoother gradient. In my eyes you know what you want to achieve but the basics just need a bit of smoothing out to give an excellent quality painting. I'd recommend more layers for smoother colour transitions they make a huge difference. I do like the detail on the hair and the pelt. The gems could do with a few layers of glaze to smooth them out and make them shine a bit more and a richer colour.
I think at this point i would recommend painting smoothly your base colours and a neat and smooth application of highlights. Saying all this the gritty feel of the mini works quite well especially with space wolves. So all in all a pretty good job but room for improvement too.

Also, more angles of the mini will get you more feedback and tips as we see more of your work.

@arctica: Thanx for such a deep coments, I have taken them into consideration and will try to improve on their bases.
@maru: I use mainly two group of brushes. One is cheap but very good hobby brushes of a marginal brand, that I use to achieve a tabletop level and to paint the base colours, and sometimes I just finish the mini with them as well( coz I'm lazy at those points or it's a gaming mini). I also have one fine art brush with kolinsky sable that I use from time to time on fine details. Once I aquire a good set of fine brushes - I've heard all the praises of WnN n0.7 series- I plan to use them more frequently.
For undercoat I use GWsprey or some local matt acrylic sprey designed for plastic.
@scottrandom: done.
Cheers and thank you for the comments!

you should get the look of them as the lower 1 - not a "elephant tail" ones
ther are actualy some other firms that supplay brushes at same lvl like W&N - Rosmery CO. Raphaele,
end a budget ones Talents - Rembrandt series
