On March 26th every Games Workshop Hobby Centre in Nederland and Vlaanderen will be holding a painting competition. Called 'De Lage Landen Schilder Competitie' this event will find the best painter in Nederland and Vlaanderen region of Belgium.

Our Hobby Centres in Nederland & Vlaanderen will be holding the heats on March 26th. The top three from categories 1-12 plus the finalist of Armies on Parade, will be eligible to go to Amsterdam for the Grand Final on April 10th.

All entries will be judged on the day so you have plenty of time to complete that fantastic paint scheme or conversion that's been begging to be finished at your paint station.

For more details please speak to your local Hobby Centre or check out the PDF below.

Just heard about this last weekend... if I knew it earlier I might have painted something. Of course I can enter an old mini, but that's not the way I like to participate in competitions.

Apparently you'll have to take your figure to a local GW store in March 26th. The store owner will do the judging for this preliminary round. If your figure makes first cut you're invited to the finale in GW Amsterdam on April 10th.

Seriously, did you hear about this competition? I heard it from someone who visited the GW store in Antwerp last weekend, he got a flyer for the event there.

I'm afraid serious painters will miss this competition...

Would a serious painter even consider entering a contest where the first cut is made by a store owner? I'm not a serious painter, but I wouldn't enter a contest where a familiarity with the shopkeeper would probably have an effect on the outcome.

That's a question I have asked myself too. In competition like the Golden Demons there are usually ex-winners and studio painters in the jury. But a store owner?

I have seen the figures of the GW Antwerp store guys... I doubt they ever do something else than drybrushing and washing...

But the biggest problem I have with this competition is that there are going to be prizes awarded to people who don't really deserve it.

Let's hope this is the beginning of a serious Golden Demon contest in the lowlands... but I seriously doubt it.

Nope, it's the same as they did a couple of times before. It's just a bit bigger now because there are more stores involved.
