Well, here is my entry for the total testosterone contest! When I saw the competition, I knew I had to get my boris painted. Its been begging to be painted for a while now and this is the perfect excuse! A big thanks to Nathan for organising the competition, it was great.

I realy like the look of this one the skintone is fantastic, what colours did you use as I would like to try your recipe out myself.

I will second the skintones The base is great too.

Well, my painting for this was inpired by a bit I read on a book written by Boris Vallejo! Theoretically, you use green to shade skin tone as it is a contrasting colour to red. Plue you are suppose to use blue to shade those areas that the skin is close to the bone which won't have the blood vessel making the skin pink, like the knees, elbow ankle that sort of things. The face and chest will tend to flush during exertion so would be nice to have a reddish tinge to make him look healthy. Well, thats what I read in a and since I was painting a Boris with Vallejos....

As for specific colours, the flesh colours is highlighted up from (vallejo model colour)
846 Mahogany Brown
860 Medium Flesh
845 Sunny Skintone
955 Flat Flesh
928 Light Flesh

Some places I want the flesh to flush a bit a blend in a bit of 908 Carmine Red.

When doing the cool shadows (bottom), I mix in green for most of the places (888 Olive Grey; 967 Flat Green) but some places I use blue 807 Oxford Blue.

The shading from the top I blended back to red and brown instead of green and blue to keep it warm.

This one was a bit messy I keep painting over it so there is many layers and its more like wrestling with the big guy. I paint blending the colours on the figure while it is still wet so its not a controlled blend like many others. Its basically keep at it until I got it to look like how I wanted it.

Another on board on the skintone! I like this miniature, it reminds me of the old Thrudd the Barbarian from GW. (which it must be based on a bit at least...)

I am satisfied I had no occasion to participate this contest: I wouldn't beat this guy for sure...
