IMPORTANT NOTE ON CRISIS 10.
Tot onze spijt en omwille van logistieke redenen zal er op CRISIS 10 jammer genoeg GEEN schilderwedstrijd zijn.
We regret to inform you that - for logistical reasons - CRISIS 10 will not be hosting a painting competition.

....well for being the only remaining painting competition in Flanders (the Dutch speaking part of our country) I think this is the silliest mistake they could ever make. The organisation of the painting competition has been crappy for several years now, but this didn't keep the great entries away. The competition got tougher every year, people from Germany, France, The Netherlands and UK kept coming back to fight for the trophies. And for the past years we had Stefanie Arndt (Amber's Nightsky, Freebooter's usual demo painter) and Brenda Gosman (Bren on CMON and on these forums) fighting for the best of show award. If you know these names and their work then you know the overall level of this competition.

Well I'm not going to waste any more time on the same discussion we had last year: https://www.chestofcolors.com/forum/view ... 116#p91116

But I hope that some day they learn from their mistakes and and use a simple first cut system and register the points on a simple piece of paper.

I wouldn't be there anyway, but it's ofcourse a bad news for the community in general.
perhaps all they need is someone who would do it for them? you, perhaps?

no way

First of all Crisis is organized by a club (Tin Soldiers of Antwerp), and I'm not a member of it. Secondly, the entire club, and especially the steering members, are made up of old, stubborn and conservative dumbasses. Every year they got a load of criticism after the show, but they think they can do it better on their own, and see where they are now.

An example to illustrate this: a couple of years ago (I think it was 2006) we had Holger Schmidt come over. Expectation were high, he has always been one of the big winners there. But he found himself trapped in a traffic jam on his way to the show, so he calls the organisation he's going to be late and will not be able to enter his pieces before the deadline (13:00). They tell him it's fine, he can still enter. Finally he arrives after a 300km trip at 13:30, only to hear he's too late to enter the competition. He wandered around for an hour on the show that day, then he drove back to Germany and we have never seen him again at Crisis

Painting competition or not, I will go to the event. It's the biggest in the country, and there is a nice selection of traders. And now I don't have to wait until 18:00 to get my miniatures back from the competition :)

I think it's too bad there won't be a painting competition this year, I love going to these events and waiting for the results is always very exciting (especially when they keep saying it will be there in 10 mins for about 1,5 hour ;-) I'm not sure if I'll be there this year, it depends a bit on my husband as well. On the positive side, we won't have to wait till 18.00 indeed...

Who's going to the DUZI (in Germany)??? :-D If everybody enters their models there this could turn out to be a nice competition (being the only one left within reasonable distance for us Dutch people this year)!

I've created a separate topic for this: https://www.chestofcolors.com/forum/view ... 68#p110568

Please go there for DUZI related discussion and keep this one about Crisis, thanks!

I'd love to go to CRISIS but this year it's a sure no-go.

Funny thing about the painting competition. They had the 180-hrs computer program done already this time ;)

Yes, you'd say so... maybe they're tired of handing the Best of Show trophies to girls?? :-D

Sorry guys, no offense... ;-)
