Photo isn't too great, but I'll toss it up anyway. Just something I'm doing for fun to take a break from the Inquisitor Rex retinue. Probably only about half done and I have no idea how I'll do the free hand since painting those straight lines was difficult enough.

Freehand isn't a must, is it? You can diverse colors, introduce some midtones and color transitions, to make the surface not boring, without freehanding it.
Pure silver will shine up the model a little bit, but it's difficult to say anything more from this picture.

The free hand would be on the shoulder crest, loin cloth and possibly the left shoulder. I'll try to take a better photo after I get some more done. Maybe a lighter background will help since the armor is so dark.

The shoulder crest dosent need to be red white with blades like shown everywhere, reading the novels with the grey knights you will find crests of all shapes and forms, theres one all black with a white star (they say it symbolizes the light in the darkness) just do one that feels confortable for you, it will look great.

Update~ Tried to take a better photo this time, I think It was successful?

Looks like some of the silver transitions aren't very good and I'm still struggling with the loin cloth highlights. Pretty sure I'm going to do some freehand on that other (black) shoulder pad as well once I get some new brushes.

Yes, it's shining gold(?) with numerous red and brown washes, then a final layer of highlights. Probably looks better in person since the camera has difficulty capturing those colors.

Changed the coloring to match the inquisitor retinue better and tried to make improvements based on past feedback. My large bases haven't arrived yet, however I would really like to do some sort of autumn scheme even if it doesn't fit the whole 'grimdark' universe.

It's only meant to be a high tabletop quality, but anything that really needs improvement? Better contrast? Some additional color glazing? Any basing advice/suggestions?

wow, the old Grey Knight! I thought most people don't use these models anymore. Quite good paintjob too :) Like the metallics - they look pretty old, which is fine for GK.
For good tabletop quality I wouldn't change a thing. The base colors clash with the model's color scheme, but if it's deliberate - that's fine.

Figured there's no harm in posting photos even if it's nothing fancy. Just good 'ol sarge for my tabletop GK terminator squad.

I'll get some nice pictures once I get the whole unit finished. Still have three more to go and it's taking forever to paint them, blehhh. :banghead:
