The thank feature is great, but on the other hand it's just another number in your profile.
Are there any plans to link the has thanked/have thanks numbers to anything else, like a rank or maybe a feature you can buy with these points? I've once been on a forum where users could earn coins, and use these to buy items for a virtual inventory.
I assume the thank feature isn't self-written custom code but rather a feature or plugin from the forum software? So I don't know how easy it is to expand.
I had a similar idea. Really.
Hadn't it been for the site downtime when the hosting company failed to upgrade the server in a timely manner, I would probably have it done already...
That's roughly the idea - to buy extra permissions, ranks or badges for the points.
I know most of us would post regardless of any possible thanks or advantages anyway, but why not have some nice way of using the thing?

and my observation is that we have a lot more news-posters after you've introduced 'thumb-up' feature. not that I mind it, that's what it was supposed to do

Probably because I'm back too. I love doing news posts
It was only after my first few posts that I noticed I got some thank points
I have a good idea, but need time to add it. I am working on other features now
