This is my first ever painted space marine. I thought that I am done with it but after getting some comments from my local GW people I figured that it will be a WIP for now.

I like how nice and smooth all of the transitions are. My personal opinion would be to push the contrast a bit or add some color variation. Easiest way may be some washes/glazes to add a bit more depth to the shadows or sharper highlights (they look very subtle in the photo).

yup, what LittleDave said.
darkline elements to make them pop out (like dark line around the glowing eye). thin highlighting line on armour edges would also help.
colours work well, but I think that you could have tried to paint some elements with different colour. White helmet perhaps? That would make this mini a lot more interesting.
What I like best here is the 'stealer :) cool job, I'd liek to see the whole genestealer painted like that.

nice job working on the same mini now. I think going darker on the gems on the shaded portion will make the highlight pop. Also don't forget the light reflection dot in that same section.

Updated version. Shadows have been deepened, Highlights increased. I hope it is an improvement

Oh yeah, that's a lot better. There's something great about those colors, although I'm not sure how to describe it. It's as if they're faded rather than the usual "candy apple red" I'm used to seeing.

I agree demi, this is more the oldskool style Blood Angels colour from years back where they leaned more towards orange then being actual red.
