Work problems!

Post by Skrit »

Some of you heard I am having problems at work (mostly due to the economic crisis!) and my bosses are trying to get rid of me.

Well today another (a quite peacefull) attempt was made to get rid of me and my collegue Sam by offering me to stop now and get paid untill the end of July. I have mixed feelings about it as it is hard to find work right now because of the economy and the holidays that are starting in the Netherlands soon plus of those six weeks they want to pay I still have right to three weeks of vacation...

Thing is, chance is big the company my work falls under will go under if I don't take this offer and I will end up with nothing!

Very frustating and some words from my friends might help me think a bit clearer... :curtain:

That is a very tough call Skrit. If you are sure that the company will go under then the decision is easy, but by the sound of it, your are not entirely sure. If they are including your three weeks vacation in that 6 weeks, they are getting off light (and the most likely scenario). If they will pay you for the 6 weeks and pay you your 3 weeks vacation then in the 9 weeks you should be able to come up with something.

I know it is not much help, but things to think about and find out about.

If you want to bounce some ideas or just to talk, just PM me.

at least this time they were honest with you
if you know the company will fall sooner or later quiting now is worthy considering? I mean if your boss is forced to recuce employment he will find ways to do it :(

Thanks for the support and feedback guys!

I am going to propose an extra month (August) and hopefully we'll atleast end up in the middle and get two weeks extra. If they won't budge Karin and I decided to take the offer but it's worth the try right?!

its quite a hard choice and i think if you're sure that the company is going to eventually close down then you should get what you can so that you have some breathing space as you're finding a new line of work. I agree with what's been said so far, definately ask about another month i think it would be beneficial, like mike said if it's July they are getting it easy.

It really depends on how long you have been with the company, in the UK it's a standard 1 week per year for redundancy, so if you have been with them for more then 8 years they are short changing you by our standards but if you have been with them less than 4 years then they are being generous.

Either way start looking for something else now and save yourself the difficulty of being out of work with no money when the time comes!

Good luck!
Getting back into the thick (or rather thin as in thinning my paints) of it, not picked up a brush in some time so this may hurt a bit until I get used to the feel of them again

Well the dice has been cast! They are now paying me one week (yay!) extra!
I don't actually feel sad or angry about it anymore as the atmosphere was piss poor lately anyhow. What did me good is that I re-placed my resume last night and this morning got an offer already! :D

I can do a lot now too on the project I've been working on so that is good too, maybe this thing is a blessing in disguise after all! Demi/Scibor, I need that logo man! :P

Thanks again for the words guys! :)
