Chest of Colors forum

I really want to rebuild the website and make it more user friendly for myself.

I guess that means using php. I know nothing about php and MySQL, so I was wondering if any of your guys can recommend an application framework. I love the look of this site, but it seems that PostNuke is no longer current?

There are plenty of user friendly and easy to install portal/blog systems. From my experience I can recommend WordPress - it is really easy to work with / modify.

I've heard good things about WordPress. I'm currently using Blogger for my blog, and honestly it's not a great system. I'm not sure there is any blog software that can really do what I want (articles, galleries, etc.)

The Mrs and I use Blogspot for our blogs, there's lots of good templates out there and it's not that difficult to modify, as for forums we recommend PHPBB as it's free and very easy to use, the Mrs taught herself to do it from the ground up and she's not really that technically minded, we use a similar scripted web package for our on-line shop.

For example the shop is https://www.thebijoudragon.co.uk
and the blogs are https://urbanself-sufficiency.blogspot.com https://eatdrinkbecrafty.blogspot.com and our latest one we are currently modifying https://thefrugalchef.blogspot.com

If you need any pointers on the blog stuff PM me and I'll ask the Mrs what to do

Thank you for the links! The shop site looks great, makes me want to buy stuff lol!

I do use blogspot/blogger for my blog, and for the most part I'm happy with what it provides for blogging. I just don't want to use it for a complete website. My forum is php based, but I didn't install or configure it, so I that doesn't help me much unfortunately.

What did you use to build your shop website? It looks really nice.

It's a simple cubecart 3 site (because it's free) that we modified using Photoshop and Dreamweaver MX, the Mrs did most of the work and I just helped out with some of the slightly more technical code breaking stuff.
