Help with Orc/Goblin skin methods

Hello everyone, I am a beginner with a Warhammer fantasy Orc/Goblin army.

I am starting on my Orcs, and im hoping someone can post a couple different colour combinations & techniques for simple ways to paint orc skin? Im starting with regular Orc Boyz.

(On the 1st orc I painted, I did this)=

-black primer spray
-Dark angels green basecoat
-Half Dark angels green and Half Snot green layer
-Snot green layer/highlight

It looks surprisingly good for my first try at layering, but it also looks kind of "cartoony". Any suggestions on what I did wrong on this model?

I THINK I left too much shading in the creases of the muscles...
It seems I have a hard time deciding where to end the first layer. I hesitate to draw a straight line around the edges of the shadow, but is this the only way? How much room should I leave for the shadows?

PS- On a black cloak, should you drybrush grey, or edge-highlight with grey? (it is a night goblin)

oh yes, it will be really difficult to pass reasonable judgement without any pics.
