Chaos Marines - Can't decide on a colour scheme >_<

Post by Sahatiel »

I'm starting a new chaos army and I'm a bit stuck on a colour scheme. I have slaanesh and tzeench units, and so far I've got as far as deciding on my daemonettes. They have pale skin (bleached bone base, grey shades and white highlights) with metalic blue claws/horns...

I don't want to have an army that looks the same as every other army, though, and I'm looking for something that will challenge/improve my painting skills.

I would very much appreciate any ideas that anyone has?

paint armour gblack - painting black effectively is pain in the a$$ but if well executed it'll look great on battlefield :)

if you care about compliance with official colour schemes and fluff... well, check codex :)
if not, plase show us your demonette. it will be easier to choose something for rest of your army :) and tell us what models you have in your collection.

If I would paint chaos space marines, I'd paint them with dark metallic armour and add dark red, or dark blue or some black to give it some color.

If I would ever collect gw chaos marines again, I would go for Iron Warriors now, so I guess that's why I would paint them in metallics ^^

Or you could use the colourscheme we invented for our failed project! ;)

The Models that will make up my army (for 2000 points) are:

Summoned Greater Daemon (My aim is for this to be the ForgeWorld Keeper of Secrets

Chaos Lord (Fantasy Lord on Boob-Worm)
-Mark of Slaanesh
-Personal Icon
-Daemon Weapon (Bliss Giver)
-Daemonic Steed

6 x Terminators
-Icon of Slaanesh
-3 x combi-weapons
-1 x power fist
-Champion
--Pair of Lightning Claws

Dreadnought (Tzeentch)
-Multi-melta
-Extra Armour

18 x Noise Marines
-12 x Sonic Blasters
-Noise Champion
--Icon of Slaanesh

17 x Thousand Sons
-Icon of Tzeentch
-1 x Aspiring Sorcerer
--Doombolt

-12 x Lesser Daemons (Daemonettes)

Chaos Predator (Slaanesh)
-Auto-cannon
-Side Lascannons
-Extra Armour

Chaos Vindicator (Tzeentch)
-Daemonic Possession

In my smaller armies, I'd have a Daemon Prince, which I want to be the standard GW Keeper of secrets, because I don't like the Daemon Prince model. I need to keep it GW minis, because a lot of the tournaments I play in are GW/FW minis only.

The daemonette is below:

She's very not finished (as you can see) and it's not that great of a photo, but that should give you an idea of the colours.

One idea I had was to paint them a really loud colour, and have splashes/splatters of clashing colour over the armour, but I have no idea how I'd paintit on, nor what colours I'd use...

use blue scheme from demonette's claw for tzeentch models, and red scheme from her cloth for slaanesh models. use some red on tzeentch minis and blue on slaanesh to tie army together.
just a though of course.
