Venerable Dreadnought

Hiya all...
just wanted to share:
This is the dreadnought I am painting now, or more precisely - the last WIP shot I took to check some things.
The transitions will be smoothed and toned-down by applying some dark blue glazes. The arms weren't photograpghed because I just wanted to check the placement of higlights on the body only...

great blue colour; and I really like it - not just because I am damn nice and cute person

I'm sure the finished result will be as nice as so-far-job

ow yes yes... some Mahon stuff
I really like the blue colour but on the backside it could be smoother. On the back, the armour plates look a bit too rough IMO in comparisation with the rest of the armour.
The metallics look nice, old and dirty. The eagle on the front looks good too. And I think the Crimson fists symbol isn't finished yet...so no comment on that
Overall it's a very strinking blue colour and I like it.

nope

it's just a WIP shot to check the placement of the highlights.
Then it only had the first layer of red (to see how the colors will work together)
The back isn't smooth enough yet, but bear in mind the transitions will be given several glazes to smooth them and tone the highlights down (something like the
Crimson Fists commander)... But I wanted to post a WIP shot, since I rarely do
As for the eagle - it will be glazed and washed with some weird colors yet, to enrich the color
So - hold your compliments yet, and go on with criticism, to make me show you the finished mini sooner

Maybe a "groin" area is a little to bright. It should be more in shadow...
I like this color... A lot

The blue looks good but I like to see the metallics be highlighted a bit more, imho they look abit too dark.

and here comes something I wondered about...
I wanted the metal to look old, as this is a *venerable* dreadnought, but OTOH some highlighting wouldn't hurt. what do you think? It would look ok with some more highlighting, wouldn't it?

Highlighting the metal would be fine, but tone it down afterwards with some thin glazes of smoke, or what have you, to give it a more weathered 'grungy' look.

I agree with Kenneth. Just highlighting would make the metallics look too clean I think.
