As mentioned I had to set up for another photo so took some WIPs... here is the original photo

A comparison shot (the one on the right hasn't been touched except for the trim on the power glove).

As it stands now, with the trim darkened with P3 Armour Wash and the red treated with VMC transparent red:

Next I'll finish the black wash, then give sharp highlights to the black with blue-greys... then highlight the whites I suppose...

Oh yes, I must do something with the green 'rubber' bits and hose/cables too!

...suggestions?

Guess I should have posted photos as large as the first one. Have gone over the greens with VMC transparent green... no they look too bright I guess I'll have to darken the folds with a glaze and then a directed wash.

Definitely better now. I like the cotrasts you managed to achieve, but you 're right - larger photos might help a bit...

Haven't taken any time to do any painting to speak of since my last post here. Visiting Norwegian relatives, doing research on my main income producing activity, holidays (lots... lots... of parties) , wife and youngest daughter going to/returning from, getting ready to go again for Feb., Norway, shopping for a new vehicle... and more family stuff/travel with taking care of aging relatives who live far away... <sigh>

Anyway. Got a few new brushes to try out, and the idea of buying the P3 set for painting AT-43 Red Blok striders 'n maybe troops with. The VMC line is just too darn fragile, even after all my tricks. I mastered all the other quirks that people complain about re. VMC, and have increased their durability a great deal, but they just don't produce tough enough finish for gaming pieces. Blah.

Will carry on with these guys as before, though... and with the partly done WWII project I'm doing for someone...

yeah, you're right VMC paints aren't the best for gaming pieces, they're more suitable for painting showcase stuff...

I like P3 paints a lot while I know Ana complained about quick drying of some colors. I didn't mind this though....
Hope you'll enjoy painting with P3s and show us some new stuff soon :)

PS - it seems you had even busier time than me :) in the meantime I managed to continue my work on one mini, so I wish you much more time for painting in the new year :)

what do You mean about fragility? VMC colors strip off from the model with ease?
I wanted to get some colors from this line

yep, they don't have the same adhesive qualities as GW paints or P3 paints. VGC are better in this respect, but still not as good as non-vallejo paints...

VMC chip off or rub off more easily.
