WIP Valten MKI
Yet another model from me, and I thought I'd share what I've done so far and ask for advice.
Now, I started off my flesh with Dark Flesh and have mixed Dwarf flesh with it until I thought it was light enough. Then It was pure dwarf flesh and now dwarf flesh plus elf flesh.
But I've noticed something, I think the shading on the muscles is too deep. I'm wondering if anyone else agrees and any ideas on how to reduce the problem, and preferably without having to start on the flesh again.

(and yes, yet again three pics - different zoom lengths. I need practice.)
Thanks for any comments and advice.

Yes the shading of the muscles is a bit dark but I kinda like that!

I'm unsure about it. On one hand it does point them out quite well but on the other hand I think they look odd, so I'm kinda unsure.
But for lightening the gap, it's been suggested I do a Dwarf Flesh wash. Maybe if I make it really watery it may look ok. What do you think?

I don't really think that wash is gonna light up the shadows, especially if it's very thinned...

Well I tried an wash of Dark Flesh and Dwarf flesh, adding a few layers (as it was very watery) it has lightened the gaps slightly; nothing major. I will maybe leave it at this as it looks pretty good now, I'll try to get another few pics soon.
Thanks, btw.

I think I had similiar "problem"; the only thing You have to do is to change a bit paints proportions; the painting techniqe itself is ok

The pics are a bit blurry, does your cam have a macro function?
You got a quasi-Foundry style look going on there, dude, which is fine if you are going for drama, but if you want to lighten up that shading I suggest you might try laying down some washes of dwarf flesh over top the shadowed areas.
I actually think that the style shown here would look quite good on the tabletop!

Aye, the camera has a macro function. But I'm not the best at taking pics - hence the three zoom lengths - and I'm considering getting a better camera, whilst this one is ok it has no optical zoom on it. And from what I've read most people use the optical zoom more than digital. But I'll see.
And he's now got lighter muscle area's, a few washes of dwarf flesh worked well. Though I do think I may have made his muscles too light now, but I shall look at that sometime soon.

THe washes you added made a very noticable improvement. THe muscle groups are still defined, but thier separation blends more realistically.
Nicely done!!!

much better now! the muscles look more natural this way. washes are very helpful when you know how to use them.
and yeah, the contrasts are stiull very strong, but now the smoothness makes them look intentional.
