Came across the recent Fanatic issue online and they had an article or rather house rules for the Ash Wastes that I thought you might be interested in;

I had ash wastes nomads rules somewhere but this is sweet! I think after we play some more warzone games gere I'll think about leading my scavvies off the underhive: straight to the deadly desert!
