Boneswarm

Post by Darkson »

I just finished up a Boneswarm by Privateer Press. This was a blast to paint. This was my first try at a Glowing effect :D
Let me know what you think.

I like it very much (and it's not only because I like everytning what is dead, evil or twisted in some way...;)) :D
I was also going to try painting glowing effect but I still can't start it; maybe You could make a tutorial if You have any wip photos?

Beautiful work!:D
I think the glowing effect is turned out great, but the bottom part looks "more glowing" than the others, maybe because you added more blue on the bones.

I think it looks good! Dark and old. The glowing effect looks very good to me. The glowing effect at the base looks very good IMO. I can't really see how the "inside" is done... but I suspect it has been done the same way as the glowing effect at the base!
Good job!!

I did something similar with my Ira Tenebrae from Rackham, basically you just go from a dark blue to white (or not complete white if it suits you, you have to find out!) from the lowest parts (catching only a little light) to the highest (cathing most of the shine). If you want to go for a glow from within - like the eyes - then you have to go the other way, the outer parts dark blue, the more you get to the center the brighter.

@Trovarion Your Ira Tenebrae was one of the reasons I tried this. When you posted it on the En Forum a while back I had wanted to try my hand at the glow. I just never had a miniature that needed a glow untill I picked up the Boneswarm. :D

I am liking this very much. What made you choose a blue glow effect over say a green or red effect?
