you think it's easy to paint a mini...nope
you think it's not necessary to spent time on preparing a mini...wrong

here we go !!!!!

you should begin by erase the line mold for this the only method is with a modeling knife and files (generally round is enough for all mini)
then, if it's a multipart mini, we have to pin our mini, because a lot of painter don't do it and it fragilize a lot the mini (alvarez hello )

the two part of the mini have to be drilled and then fill the two part with a piece of metal who has the right diametr

so the head had been glued, for small part super glue could be use, for bigger part prefer a 2 compound glue like UHU epoxy who dry in 5 min, and is very strong
so we continue to drill, glue and the mini is ready for next step, quick basing.....

we have to imagine our base, in this case, it will be easy, we will just continue the existing base, some plate rocks.
we have to use a putty who will have the same texture, the texture of rock is dry and hard....milliput is perfect and will have the look of rock one dry and hard

use the basic milliput, the cheapest....for exemple Jacques Alexandre Gillois (yes the french sculpting killer) is sculpting only with this milliput...

we take two egal pieces of mastic and melt it together

once melt aply it in a ball under the base of the mini

and begin with the GW sculpting tool to make your rock shape, inspire yourself by the one existing, don't be precise it's just the first step...then let it dry...

once dry, we prepare another amount of miliput applying it on the existing rock and going further in the details, using GW tools and modelling knife for final details and texture of the stone...

don't forget that the xisting white metal base have to integrate perfectly the milliput base

BUT WHAT HAPPEN TO THE MINI, IT'S GREY.....YOU PRIME IT AND DON'T SAY NOTHING ??????

heuuuu...nope.....milliput juice....explanation:

GW minis are grainy and as our further layer of paint will be very fine, these default in white metal will be seen at 10 KMS...really !!! so we recover our mini of a milliput juice, to make the surface of the mini smooth

then, close to the end.....priming:
use only GW white base or airbrush basing...
the GW (yes somtimes they some cool stuff) bomb is the only on the market who had a so fine spray.
never spray directly, always spray at 20 cm distance and with an angle of 45° top and 45° down.....
this way you will not empty all the details of the mini....
and only one touch by one touch, turning the mini....

4 layers of spray can maximum....

and here it is the final result:
nothing new in this down world, but a wrong prepared mini will be a wrong painted mini

good to know that the mega-painters also base models before painting:
I've been doing that for a while so that means even great french can learn sth useful from the painting zombie

Really nice tutorial But this rock is oversized You prime in non ventilated area Illusion ?:P

after that you need buy next white spray:P I never use white spray at home becouse after that everything have white flocks.

@mahon: miliput juice: made a ball of miliput, with the hand made it plate then with the other extremity of a brush, made a little hole, and then with your brush take some water, put it in the hole, shake with brush and the milliput will disolve in this hole....and tintin you've got your milliput juice
