what my actuall paint level is....
think about the actuall WIP Minis....
the idea is to make a vot from the other painters....so every painter can be rated by the other painters....think that can be helpfull to clear the meanings of the levels and gives all painters a chance to see wher he / she stands in the ranking
good idea ???

RE: I wann know...
nope
art isn't sometihng to be compared and rated. the competetiveness kills the uniqueness.
when you want to earn the appreciation of the jury or the public, you often sacrifice your own personal feel or style.
no voting!
... unless you ask people to rate your minis in their posts.

RE: I wann know...
Also you'll get nasty competition sometimes seen on Cmon.
No rating - why?
and to put it in more polite and informative way:
I don't think that most of painted minis can be considered art. It is something art-related though, and as such cannot be rated in a just way.
SOme people will like it, some will not. They can judge the smoothness of blending, the number of layers, but they can't say "it's A++" or "it's B-". It's the matter of their preferneces.
I believe that CMON could be good- if people woud be fair. They aren't and so a single comment means more to me than ten votes.
I think we can tell more by describing things than just by attaching numbers to them. I believe you will have more advantages from a comment like: ?smooth blending, poor color choice? than just a ?6?.
If you want people to rate your minis ? ask them for it. If you want to change your style so that people will like it, you wanna mimic somebody else. I don't think that painting is all about it. It's better if every one of us just keeps their styles, and just improves the technique.
I ain't a great master, nor an aujthority. It was just my 0,02c ? but I think that competetivenss kills the fun and uniqueness in many cases and it's something I don't want.
This forum was supposed to offer you more than plain numbers. Pressing ?1? or ?6? is just too easy and doesn't reflect any serious interest. If you wanna tell anybody if their minis are good or can be improved ? share your opinions, type several words. And it will be appreciated.
I think it's what we want this forum to be...

RE: No rating - why?
Amen

I understand this....
but you didnt understand ME in the right way i think
my meaning was ....for example...in the old HD forum we had 5 levels....the painters that work for HD were able to produce up to a level and others "cant" paint such levels....mean....a HD level 3 painter was UNABLE to paint a level 5 mini....
To pruduce high level minis its necessary to know wich level is reachable with the own techniks....but who says that this is the level 3, 4, 5 whatever ??? It cant be only a time thing....i can also paint a 20 hours on a level 2 mini when i have a bad day, or a mini is larger than a normal mini....mean i have longer times on a Dragon than on a single dire wolf....that is not the way to level that thing.....otherwise a super mega painter who is absolutly perfekt in wet in wet techniks didnt need 60 hours for a mini that i paint in lower quality in 100 hours...where is there the borderline ???
That is the exact question....a level has many parts...time, how big i the thing and in my meaning the necessariest thing...wich quallity....
what explains the levels in most ???...the quallity of techniques and color choice....but who is it who says that this is the quallity....when i see CMon....lot of guys they only drybrush are ablke to vote a SkyEarth NMM wet in wet blended mini without knowing how this was made....who can such a person give a rate ???
i DONT want to know who the best painter is in that community...i JUST want to know how the community sees the works of the painters...
for example...if CofC will make a contest we also have votings to find the best painted minis....
i think to know how the painters are leveled is helpfull for comission works...thats all
