introducing myself

Post by Gareth »

Hi my names Gareth age 24 and i paint predominately warhammer 40k, because i love science fiction.

I live in London, England.

I'm into playing warhammer 40k so i'm more army painter then showcase. Current projects include building 3 different 1500pt tyranid armies of the same paint scheme and trying to collect, build and paint the big space marine chapters to a minimum of 1000pts. To date i have 2000pts Space Wolves, 1000pt Ultramarines and 400pt Blood angels.

The other marine chapter i have is the 13th company, these are being built and painted to 2000pts for a Gaming Club Network participation game at Gamesday UK2006. Where they're fighting Ulthwe strike force on a daemon world.

Competition wise i've only entered 2 local painting comps and won both. And last week I branched out into online comps winning (joint first) the one at https://www.dwhs.co.uk and winning the public vote on librarium online. So 4 contests 4 wins lol... i'm going to have to step it up a gear soon and play with the big boys, but i got to get army painting out of my head and concentrate on showcase.

For a living i'm a graphic designer. Comes in very handy for this hobby.

I got a girlfriend and we live together. Music tastes are mainly rock and roll, other hobbies are mountain biking. Film choice is Sci fi/horror. Fav Food is chinese, or is it curry, or is Lasagne... oh i like everything...

I like this site, i'm hoping to get to know you all better and learn from you.

Cheers

Hi Gareth, what an exhaustive introduction :P

I hope you will like this place. And regarding your painting: I can only wish that we would see more armies painted like your minis. Well, you call yourself an army-painter? I would like to see what showcese-painting would like according to you :D

Heya :)

This is a type of introduction we haven't seen in a while :) I wonder where you find the spare time for painting all those different armies.

Well show us some more stuff ;)

This is the thing, i'm not sure what i can produce spending 100 hours on a model, most I guess I do is 25 hours and thats for big stuff like vehicles.

Currently pearning new techniques and adding them to my armies like nmm powerswords, se nmm power armour and currently playing around with light sourceing... hoping to one day pull it all together in my own unique style and have a stunning show piece. No rush though, i'm enjoying gaming at the moment.

Another area i have to work on is basing, majority of my armies are static grass and sand and thats dull. But mastering one technique at a time is good...

welcome to the boards m8 ! it's always nice to see a new painter join the boards. I'm pretty sure other people will learn from you as much as you will learn from them.

Time wise, i'm a fast painter, due to good organisation a lovely trait i've carried over from the graphic design. Not to mention working to tight deadlines.

More stuff, hmm ok... explore this mini msn site i have
