Just noticed the thread. I think the French GD is focusing everybody's attention right now...

I wasn't impressed by the dark-skinned Helbrecht (sword winner)... but it's a squad...

Still haven't checked the other minis...

EDIT: I like the big imperial eagle carried by one of the henchmen though :)

ok... next year I'm going to some GD in the USA and then I'll come home with a sword :P

I'm not impressed with the sword winner. I didn't have the time to browse through all the pics, but I'm not that impressed with the level.

I checked the pics and was absolutely not impressed by them. I believe much must be lost in the poor quality of the pictures, but generally: nothing eye-catching and nothing inspiring.

I dunno... Honestly, I'm going to wait for better pics before I make my thoughts known as I suspect the level was much higher then we can see now.

Also comparing LA with Paris is comparing apples and pears! Different style, different painters. I think we've made it clear by now what our personal flavours are and in the end should look to what A painter does technique, converting and creating a feeling -wise.

My last comment is not made towards anyone, just a personal note...

You are right, Skrit. But France was a great display of excellent styles, skills, conversions, and creativity. It was easy to see even from the poor photos that the overall quality was great. And LA didn't leave such impression. And now compare the overall winners

Right, I prefer French (or maybe: Spanish - the more 'historical-minis-like') style. But even the Space Hulk diorama (very un-French) was excellent and so imaginative!

did anyone said space hulk :D

well i really think theres lots of good stuff there, and lovely convos and paint jobs.. i have seen a pic at cmon of one entry and have to say pics of event are killing the quality.

eyecatching moments?... chaos giant, nurgle deamonwarrior with tyranid legs convo, chaplain with banner etc.

diferent from france gd but i think it was a good competition.

I think it must have been good. After Atlanta we really need a good GD in the US, and I think that LA has the potential to be one.

It certainly is different from France, and not worse - it's all about one's personal taste and preference. I would really like to see good photos from this event. There are a bunch of great artists in that area...
Anyway, I am still not too fond of the Sword winning entry - though the wooden Imperial eagle is pretty cool :D

Warning... lots of big pics. Oh and Nids.
