How to convert or sculpt a miniature? How to make a decent base or even a full diorama?!

hey welcome ^^

Great introducion post :) It looks very good. Could be a bit smoother on the tabard, but the rest looks pretty good :)

The green stuff looks good and the pose is proper for a mighty black templar :)
I like all the details on his chest and this little shield- great place for some freehand.
As for the nunchaku I think it's more a medieval flail based weapon and matches well with BT fluff.

I agree about the weapon, Zolwik. To me it's a flail which is perfectly OK for a medieval-themed chapter, like Black Templars.

I like the conversion a lot, and think that the roughness on the tabard is more because of the photo than of the sculpt itself.

to make a good and straight tabbard, i have a method

shape in a block of school clays the form of tabard, the general form plus the shape, and put the clay in the freezer for one hour
then you will have a support to make the gs straight and with realistic shape
after you just have to wait to make the gs hard, and bring the right done tabard to glue it on your mini

sorry for the strange explanation....my english is so bad

Bad? Strange? Why? I think it's perfectly clear and can only wonder why I didn't have this idea myself...

Great hint!

Indeed, good tip! I sometimes put leftover GS in the fridge. After a while you can take it out again and it's still soft enough to use again...
