sending minis,mailing problems....

Post by Przemas »

first of all i have to admit that generally i`m happy with the way poczta polska (polish mail*) handles packages. but....
i`ve got 2 customers to which i have extreme problems to send them a package. one of them either receives it after 2months of waiting or it returns to me. the second one wasn`t able to get a package at all. i`ve double checked the addressess and they seem fine.
any ideas what can i do ? both customers are really nice people and i don`t want to dissapoint them any further.
i`m quite desperate on this one - to the point i`ve started thinking about rather stupid solutions (like going to the different post office, not the local one).

Could you be more specific, Przemas? International/domestic shipping? What kind of packages? etc.

international shipping, package (letter-size, under 2kgs) with painted miniatures , trackable (thanks to this I was able to retrieve the items that haven`t reached the customers) :)

I haven't got any experience with sending packages outside our country. However I've sent quite a lot of them within our borders through last year and a half, as you know ;) I must say I'm quite content with way the polish post works. Of course, there are delays sometimes, but by "delay" I mean few days. I don't recall any case, where the post could not deliver a package due to own fault. Packages have returned because of incorrect addresses, or more often because a client changed his mind regarding a purchase and decided not to accept the delivery. I am more than surprised, when I read or hear shop owners' explanations, that post is constantly delaying delivery by a month or even more. This has not happened even once in our shop.
Przemas, have you asked while trying to retrieve sent package, why it had not been delivered? The post is obliged to state reason, why they failed to deliver the package.

I recently read an article about the hungarian post. There was a lady who won an iPod on some Nestle "collect bar codes" game. She's got a bubbly envelope with the box of the iPod, and in the box there was a piece of iron... Some of the employees at the post found out what is inside and nicely replaced the contents :)

Conclusion: You shouldn't send valuable stuff without insurance and/or tracking. Even then you have no 100% guarantee that your package reaches the address healthy.
