Necrosurgeon and Stitch Thrall (big pic)

Post by endrem »

So finally they are ready. Compared to the WiP version I posted, I made some smaller corrections, a bit more highlight here and there, and the bases of course.
The pictures are better than the previous ones, still the metallics are not showing the real effect. IRL the metallic parts look somewhat better.

Looks very nice, a point of critique:

The blood on the bases is too red. Allthough it has a cartoony look, it would look better if darker. Some (or more) black or brown added would make it look less like a drop of red paint that fell on the base ;)

The only thing pulling these mini's down a bit are the bases IMO. I would have done something different than sand. You could make them more interesting by adding some dead plants, or desert grass.

The metallics look ok. The arm looks good, nicely weathered. But I think the chest area looks a bit messy.

The skintones look good on both minis and so does the necrosurgeons robe.
Good job :)

sweet job... :twisted:
although I must agree with ToMaZ that blood on the base t too eye-catching...
maybe it could be improved by following with layer of wash? :think:
I really like surgeon's skintone - it is great contrasts to mechanical parts and hit thrall;
well done!

I pretty much agree with the guys said here. However, hey, man, I think the mini has its unique style, sick ... cartoon?? dunno how to describe, just the color and style and the sculpt all together make that I like it.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Actually I was a bit in a hurry, as I wanted to enter with them on a "local" online contest and the bases had to be done. So I decided I create something relatively simple than nothing, and then I decided, when I saw I would manage it, that I add some extra detail and that was then the blood. I'll shade it down before varnishing :).

A little update: I won the contest I entered with this figure :).
The field wasn't very strong, so it's not that interesting, but now I have some W&N brushes, Confrontation figures and a display base more :)
