to summary
they do not consider his stamping technics as a lame attitude
they don't consider scibor as a real scultpor
and think he use stamping only to make money and nothing more interested him (share for example)

I hope that some day I will be real sculptor
I thought that if I sculpted abaut 50 figures from the base and few are produced and few will be produced I am real sculptor, but maybe in Frace real sculptor is person who spend lot of time for estimation who is real sculptor and if his technics and tools are allowet by French Ministry of Sculpture
In my gallery at cmon are only few of my full greenstuff figures but I have rely big collection of historical and fantasy sculptures not published. If somebody who doesn't know me write that I think only about busines and appreciate my techniqe and sculptural ability is very conceited.



About me - more information for people who like appreciate me :

I do not judge many miniatures at cmon. If I vote I was asked or I gave high rate. I am not very active member of forums and I never ask anybody about techniqe. I do not belive in tutorials and do not usr them.
I am not special intrested in miniatures competition and exhibition.
I have only about two days in week for miniatures becouse I am art director in advertising agency. I am also architect and forniture designer.
I am very bad teacher and resign from employment as asistent in Academy of Fine Arts in Poland in Gdansk becouse I realy do not like students. I do not like spend to much time to ansver questions and I am fast irritated if somebody learn slowly.
I spend big part of my free time to start production of my own miniatures.

I have not enought time for my hobbys - oil paintings, military modeling, sport and many others.

If I find some time I will spend it for my hobby not for tutorials.

I think that I will make few short tutorials in my site but I am realy sceptic - I never heard about tutorials for oil painers or sculptors or architects. During my work i always try to find my own techniqe.
I sarted my miniatures hobby about 2 years ago and I am realy surprised that as many people do not want find their own way but try copy techniqs of other people. That people write me that miniatures are not hobby for me I may answer - If I paint oil painting I do not want make copy but I paint my own vision or interpretation. This is real hobby and creation.

And it is truth - my conversion are good addition money for me I do not see anythin wrong if fact that I make it if somebody like buy it .
I made diploma in Academy of Fine Arts and I work as designer .
I sell my designs like fornitures, architecture, advertise and it is my job.
I do the same with miniatures.

Finally

I never met architect or forniture designer who spent as many time to dicusion if I am real designer or architect or maybe I am not:) and do not try deprecate me that I do not spend my time for share
It is ridiculous.

Well, it really is ridiculus...I mean, that people spend SO much energy in discussing one Person... it´s worthless as hell and they should use the time to to something more creative, like... sculpting and painting Minis...

I dislike the fact, that Scibor is trying to defend his views... It´s like a witchhunt... without any sense...

First of all great explanation about yourself Scibor. Now I understand some of your motives a bit better! Second, you have sculpted complete miniatures by yourself so that makes you a sculptor. ( and you have some nice sculpts might I add...) Thirdly, I think some of those people are just jealous.

Now, this isn't really the right place for this discussion as this is the Marketplace and there isn't anything being sold. No problem offcourse and as soon as I've figured out how I can move this topic to the right section I will do it!

On behalf of Scribor to the folks who do nothing but whine that he makes so much money and won't teach anyone else how... get bent.

If he doesn't WANT to teach anyone, that is his complete perogative, at least in most places.

To the best of my knowledge, no one ever made it a RULE or REQUIREMENT that to be a member of this forum you HAD to comment on other people's work. If it was, then about 200 members would be kicked out. We accept lurkers and infrequent posters along with the odd posting freak.

Is it somewhat rude for him to only say something here when he's got something to sell? Well, its not the best in the spirit of what people like here, but until Mahon or someone with authority says so, its not against any rules. He's not spamming, not flaming, and not being abusive.

Personally, I can understand some of where he's coming from in some ways. I've been a teacher, and trying to teach someone that doesn't learn very easily what is so natural to you is HARD and very frustrating. You really, really have to want to teach at that point to keep going. Or you have to really care about that student "getting it." Everyone seems to think writing good tutorials is fun, easy, and fast for everyone. Its not! Its often very time consuming, and often virtually thankless. And in this case, he would be teaching his "competitors" the tricks that he's learned all by himself.

And as to whether he's a "real sculptor" or not... Come on, people. That's like arguing whether performance art is "real art" or not. There's no "right" answer. There's no absolute way to define that or not. So why is it such an energy-consuming debate? He does what he does. People buy it or they don't. Unless you're competing directly with him either for customers or prizes, does it really, truly matter? And even then, the ultimate judge of his work won't be you-- it will be a judging mechanism that you have little or no control over. So deal with it.

that's true: I had occasion to see (and paint) some of them and someone says Scibor is not a sculptor - You can call me virgin mary...

wait a second there guys i think were mixing a lot of concepts here and mixing personal convictions and decisions with general reality ussualy doesnt get us better view on subject.

its a bit not to say very incorrect... i explain.

all you know today scibor has been passed from master to student since the begining of times... big painters in the old days had their apprentices so well teached that they ussualy did all the work on painting some of the masterpieces you see today with master painter only doing limited painting... my formation is has a designer also and i run my design/publicity company and all you do is remixing what already exists... we dont create nothing new man its all been created elsewere and better... the tools of your work (computer programs) are killing creation because they are more limitative than expansive...bit pragmatic and today you need to detache yourself from mainstream(almost impossible) if you aim creation...

i dont want to go to tecnical and arty debate here but the basis of art evolution in human history has MASTER/STUDENT since the begining.

so i totaly disagree with your sentence about not hearing about passing (tutorials) information in those art disciplines.

I respect all diferent decisions and ways of thinking but i also have my own... and concerning tutorials i believe the following:

i belive theres a worldwide community in painting/sculpting miniatures... some do great sites others share tips and do tutorials and some inspire our works with theirs.... its all a big nice proactive community based on a not so young hobby ( see nothing is original or new... miniatures were carved in stone and wood by primitive man)... since i believe this community, and appreciate all those sweaty hours people like mahon give to built this little corner on net, i feel my obligation to contribute....

i have learned much with others and still much more to learn if i can help someone to develop its own work and method then im happy. Yes lady its HARDWORK and most of the time "virtually thankless" and Yes scibor it takes time from my hobby BUT its my little contribution to community wich i want it to be constructive and healthy...if i want it to be constructive then i better built someting usefull and not just talk about it

about teaching i had my share and even on university i was invited to teach more there....(declined because i needed to adventure in the world) and you can have many knowledge talent and have huge brains but if you dont pass it up to next generations it will die with you... although if you teach you imortalise your own experiences

what scibor is or not its not my place to talk i dont know im personally and it really doesnt add anything to my goals... if its presence on this so called community will pass just for his work then thats ok by me since i like it

Finnaly French forum debate that dont consider art or real sculptor... i again respect everyone opinions even if i dont always agree with them... also its not futile debate... its just another debate like many others... and i also dont judge them like i dont judge scibor way of expressing.
jealousy? hell some of those guys are top painters and sculptors seriously doubt that... i think its more the method and scibor behaviour towards community that being debated there.

remember its easy to judge someone by apearance, work or behaviour but that doesnt means thats the reality.

I think too many people only look at the auctions Scibor puts online .. yes they make a lot of money compared to others, but hey that's because people are interested in the figures ! who are we to argue about technique then??? I think it's more a question of envy than something else. Alot of painters / sculptors out there are just jealous because they don't get the same attention.

for me topics like these just illustrate how much the french scene is a world of its own, and tbh I think they are guilty of the same things that they accuse other of. Despite some tutorials I think they keep to themself very much and really put themselves apart from other communities in modelling world.

It makes you sound arrogant, no ofence and probably not meant this way, just does. So I guess it's the best for the students that you resigned, but that's only a sidenote really.

I often said that I think you have very good skills as a sculptor, it appears none the less that you dont like spending too much time on a sculpt - that's fine, everyone's different. I am not a really patient painter too, but I think when you are selling minis it is my believe (my personal oppinion, not trying to offend or change anyone!) that you need to put in the extra effort and at least remove mould lines and fingerprints for example and get the non-stamped parts right too (refearing to your minis feet mostly ).
So don't get my wrong, this is my view on this and the way I would be doing it - not saying that this is the only true path and as long as there are people out there wo are satisfied and willing to buy that's cool.

I don't want to go too much into the non-participation in the Comunity, since I got totally different views there as well, but that's just the same conclusion: Luckily we are all different

And like I said before, I really like your scratchbuilt minis, this is where you show your true talent and while i might not agree with everything in your ebay business and the non-participation it's perfectly fair what you do.

I hope hat Ciril,s tutorials gives answer for all question.
My techniqe is realy easy I wrote hundred times that I design my molds in computer and mold may be produced by many digital milling-machines or 3d printers.
What can I do? tutorial:
1. Photo nr 1 I sit behind computer and design my part in 3dmax studio
2. Photo nr 2 I send file to producer.
3. Photo nr3 I got package with prototype or parts of prototype.
4. If all is ok I can fix parts and prepare mold from silicon, if not I have to
make few corections and send it again for company with digital miling machine.
5. Photo nr 4. I am behind table with ready new part of armour or shoulderpad pressed in greenstuf.

I think that best tutorial will be book about any 3d program and some ideas for new parts.

I am converting now some new dwarfs and I do it without molds maybe I can make photo tutorial for this? It can be photographed how I sculpt parts in greenstuff.
I will make few photo of finished dwarfs and maybe somebody will be intrested?

Maybe my first opinion about subject from French forum was little currish but I was irritated by fact that so many people consider my person without any knowledge about me and my work. I am irritated tha I have to answer for attacks and prove that I am who I am.

Maybe I am some solitary and too much busy my own work but when I work I sometime forgot to wisit any forum by 2 or 3 weeks.

But I try to make dwarf totorial in this weekend as my share for community.

Sorry if somebody feel wounded by my currish or fact that I do not answer for question.
