Going to kill my boss... with a knife...

Post by ToMaZ »

Ok... I need to euhm get this of my chest.

I work in a restaurant. I'm assisting the chef. So I make salads, prepare meat, fish, etc etc....
Now it's a good job, the pay is good, and I have a lot of fun.

The thing now is I have a warmachine tournament this saturday the 17th. I asked for a day off and I got it. I made all kinds of arrangements with gaming buds. I would drive (150 km drive at least) and take 3 guys with me. I was really looking forward to a full day of gaming, meeting new people,...

Now I got a call 10 mins ago: I can't get the 17th off. Too busy. If I'm not there the chef can't keep up with cooking and stuff. So now the other guys don't have transportation and like me won't have a fun day.

Great huh? wait it gets even better

I also found out I have to work the 23rd, the 24th and 25th... so my birthday, christmas eve and christmasday... Not that I got something big planned except opening presents with family and GF.

there's more.

I have to work newyears eve too... I was going out with my GF and her friends. We would go on a restaurant and then go out. well not gonna happen.

whoopee fun holidays....

Well, that sucks!

I'd tell him to choose between a few of those days as it is unfair if you must work all the holidays. Don't know how it's with you but when I would work with new year (which they asked me to) I would atleast get paid 30 euro's per hour...

Soooo.... how much do you like this job? And how hard or easy would it be to replace it after the holidays?

And, much like Tyler, I would swear I heard you coughing and sneezing up a storm. :D

That really sucks... I would try to get out of that, either as Tyler or as LadyEyes suggests :-)

I was forced to work once over the new years eve from 1999 to 2000... the y2k bug. Wasn't that bad actually, but I had funny colleagues, we were basically sitting in a pub nearby ready to go when needed. Wasn't needed of course. In your case this won't work I suppose... :-/

well, after I jumped from one job to another, I kinda want to keep this one ;) And it would be pretty hard to replace it. I need the job to get myself through uni and stuff (miniatures  )

I've talked it over with my boss. I have no problem working on my birthday, so I'm working a full day then. The 24th I'm working from 17h till 22h. Which gives me enough time to give everyone their presents and receive mine in the evening ^^
I still have to work the 25th though... that's going to be from 17h till everything is cleaned in the restaurant. Probably between 1 and 2 am.
and I'm pretty lucky on newyears eve. Appareantly the open around 12, and close at 23h. I have to work from 12 till 18h. So that's good.

And yes he's going to pay me more everyday I work 'till after newyears eve. So that's cool too.
Basically now it isn't too bad. I get more money and still got time to do some fun stuff.

and that spoon line... I know I've heard it somewhere, just can't remember where :)

It's from Robin Hood - Prince of Thiefes with Costner ^^

best Robin Hood movie, closely followed by the one with Sean Connery...

And glad it turned out acceptable for you :)
