Mary :)

Post by Ana »

well, except for trolls I haven't painted bigger models yet, so the time had come... they are different in painting than smaller models, that's true.
Extreme highlighting doesn't work well and looks weird... but I still painted her with a bir unreal elements. It's all because of the little thing in her hand - how could I make her realistic if she's holding a bird which has arms? ;)

So my "woman with a bird" (because it's what I called her) was supposed to look like an English woman, but I changed my mind after I noticed some exotic features on her face after priming the mini.

I've never been to Thailand but that's what I imagine Thai women to look like...

Painting her was a nice break from painting space marines ;)

please vote (high) for her on CMON ;) ;)

wow! I love the skin colouration you managed to get. Its very very beautiful. The bird is fantastic too! the only thing I don't like is the hair but its not too bad. Good job getting the base so close to the wood colour too!

I like it a lot. The skin is very smooth and, in contrary to fatgoblin, I like the hair.
But there are two minor spots that struck my eye.
First the inside of the egg looks odd. I don't know about eggs in fantasy worlds, but eggs in the real world are white inside. Thus I would have expected it to be white, too. Maybe it's not important, but it disturbs my sense of correctnes (I'm german... ;) ).
The second is her left (for the viewer right) breast. There is a very sharp linie of one of the highlights. This doesn't fit the quality of the rest.
Apart from that, I think it is a great Mini.

I like the overall paintjob and ya, like a Hawaiian more than a Thai woman. Honestly, to me, the Thai people do not have that dark skin tone, may be the photo makes it darker than the real mini. I like the jar

I love the skin, the brown is just a tone that is unseen in most minis. I agree that she looks more Hawaiian, or just an extremely well tanned person. :P
