New plastic giant!

Post by Skrit »

Okay, took this off a Dutch forum who in turn took it off Daemonicaura.com.

Clearly made in the style of the recent Ogre Kingdoms models as the heads are very similar to Ogre ones.

Because of the terrible paintjob in these pics I'm not yet gonna comment on the sculpt itself untill I see better pics or hold the model in my own hands...

That belly is also very ogrish.

I think I like it. I've wanted a giant for my Ogre army, but I don't like the look of any of the metal ones. This one just might be what I'm looking for.

I also like how it is very plain, leaving lots of opportunity for conversion and additions. And looks like there is lots of additional peices on the sprue. Unless they try to hawk it for over $50, I'll probably get it.

I like this very much, I had heard the rumour that there was a plastic giant in production and I for one am looking forward to its release, I think it is the paintjob that lets it down and with a dcent one it would look stunning, and I'll wager a damn site cheaper than the forgeworld ones.

Agreed, it's better than the last three Giants (including the Albion ones) that were released. I still like the marauder Giant a lot, Imho still better than this one but as said before I'll wait till I see it up close before making a proper judgement. I'm also glad that this so long rumour was true!

Some more pics of GW releases to come:

Although most is painted in wacky colours, for example the Tau special character, I like the way they painted the Vespid. The art of the tau also looks very promising. I really like the image with Guardian like Tau on it!:)

Hmmmm. I really don't like the giant. The paintjob is horrible, and I don't fancy the sculpt. I bet this plastic box is going to cost 40/50? or at least close to it.

The other GW stuff don't really impress me either. The concepts are all cool, but 9 times out of 10 the mini's don't even resemble the concepts. And IMO the mini's often lack originality...
Lucky for me that there are other minis out there than GW's minis.

Better (IMO) pics in the Warhammer preview pop-up. Maybe not actually painted. That image is so clearly photo-shopped, I can't tell where the model ends and the computer begins. More obvious details, anyway.

looks like an ogre with stretched legs and arms

paintjob really sucks, as well as the huge mold line on the thing (weapon?) in his right hand

not impressed at all

I'm still not sold on it. IMO the arms and legs look too weak to hold up it's incredible girth, which in turn makes it look as though it was meant for Ogre Kingdoms mainly - the mongolian head and the over extended stomach gives it too much of a ogre appearance. On the good side it has a lot of stuff, the sprue is full of junk and the model itself can be posed a lot better.
