The paint jobs are ok, table top quality. But that diorama/display board is awesome. I have to give the man props for presentation.

The presentation is great. I hope I can do something similar for an army someday. The painting is... well like you said, table top quality...

"When we saw John Stentz's incredible Bretonnian army at the 2005 Chicago Grand Tournament, we knew that we had to snap some photos of these beautifully painted and modeled army. John's article is mentioned in the article, On the Borders of Athel Loren in White Dwarf 309. Click on any of the images below for a more detailed photo."
Ok I might have high standards but come on.... These are not "beautifully painted" and dont need a page with detailed photos. Is this what our hobby is going to?? Is this the quality we want our stuff to look like?? For people just getting into the hobby is this what they look forward to painting like?? I hope not.. This is a shame that GW is promoting low quality paint jobs so painters dont have to aim very high.
Sorry rant over.
Cheers,
Robert

hi
i have to agree with DD here, the colours are great, but the painting is aweful, even i can paint better than that.
I am surprised GW want to show this stuff so closely photographed, it cant do there painting classes much good.

Another here who agrees with DD! The painting sucks! Maybe a bit hard to say but that's how I see it!

Sorry I went a bit crazy but this really bothered me. But we can do something to change this. I am going to the Battle Bunker tonight to teach some people how to paint. I will also be helping the staff to raise their standards of painting. As a group of good painters it is our job to help people as much as we can. I want the hobby to get better not go backwards in how we paint. Off I go to save a few people from eye sore paint jobs.
Cheers
Robert
I read that GW page long time ago too

I was thinking to post that here, but I thought that painter may not feel good if I do so. So, if the painter of that bretonnia army somehow read this forum and this article.....um, I personally want to say that...I appreciate his work and effort very much, but I guess what we are discussing here is the standard, actions and judgement of GW, nothing personal about the painter.
Well, if I say anything wrong here, I apologize.

If they were just trying to show people without much painting skill what a fully painted army can look like, how it can be planned so they look like part of an army, etc., ok. But this is along the lines of that "painting masterclass" article we saw online a few months ago. (Remember that? It was HORRIBLE!)
I don't think EVERYONE needs to aspire to be an awesome painter. Its not everyone's thing, and its not necessary to play the games and have fun. But I also feel that the WD folks need to not be misleading (outright dishonest) to readers by telling them this level of painting is "incredible" and "beautifully painted."
yup, totally agree with Lady's view

We may even write to GW and ask them what they really mean for what they wrote.
