Garagrim Ironfist

Ok after a lot of orcs I figured I'll clean myself with a good ol' dwarf figure, I glanced upon the son of Ungrim whilst thinking of models to do. Ok I wanted to do a naked slayer.. paint that is, not 'do'

Anyways.... the pic -

Now first thing off was I didn't like the way he 'slotted' into the dead warrior on the base, I wanted him to be there more solidly. So I GS'ed the hole in as best I was able and then chose a new position for his foot, here I drilled a hole and planned a pin. After a little jiggery-pokery I have gotten a nice hole and pin in his foot (the two will be painted apart), a litty GW and super glue see to it the pin stays in place.

Then onto his arms. Looking at it when the arms were placed I could clearly see cracks along the joints and so to remedy this I once more turned to GS. Both arms were placed on a blob of GS which was then trimmed to fit and smoothed, I think this covers the gaps (GS isn't my greatest skill). But due to not wetting one of the arms when fitting it it is now held in place by the GS, so that will be painted as part of the main model. The other will be done seperate so I can easily get to all the sections behind it.

Well that's the first update, look out for more. These will come most days this week, hopefully as the model is painted.

C&C welcome

Demi - You can't see it? You're blind!! Look it's there right in front of you. Right there!!

*walks off innocently with a new pair of eyes*

Yes, well... I just wanted to show I can use GS. Not very well but I can use it, painting will start tonight.

Right.. two days on and one failed photo later, here's his current look -

https://img188.imageshack.us/img188/8615 ... ipb9oh.jpg

From the top -

The beard and hair; I did not want it to be the plain basic - blazing orange then drybrush with fiery. So I started with a base of Snakebite Leather followed by mixes of that and blood red before adding some blazing orange to the mix. These were all layer painted and not drybrushed, I wanted to attempt to keep the hair visible and with all the layers they were quite watery. Next up I began to drybrush with the previous mix and fiery orange added in, this was done until I got a look I liked and then the highlights of a slight mix of that with sunburst yellow to lighten it. The final touch was a light drybrush with plain yellow.

The flesh; based with Dark flesh the layers then progressed through adding a little bit extra of tanned flesh to the mix each layer and then later adding dwarf flesh.

This is the current level, I still have a bit of the flesh to do; dwarf flesh and highlights. But so far I quite like and am enjoying it.

C&C welcomed... oh and on the reverse pic, don't forget to look at the Slayer prince's ball sack ;)

hehehehehe... indeed he's totally naked! :D
I also like skintone You achieved; about a month ago I had an occasion to see slayers army against dark elves:
I had no idea that army without saving throws can be so deadly!

The updated version. Right what's been done...

The flesh has been finished with a mix of dwarf flesh into the previous mix and then elf before an almost pure elf flesh highlight. His face was then done. The tongue is red gore and scab red with a highlight of blood red, the scar on his forehead is almost the same. But has dark flesh and tanned flesh mixed then a touch of red added. His eyes came out rather well, IMO. But sorry for the bad pic of his face - I'll try to get a better one next time.

The silver is boltgun, black ink, boltgun and chainmail, blue ink, previous metals and the edges in mithril silver. The gold is only part way done and I have done it a lengthy way just to see. Bestial brown base then inked followed by brazen brass highlights and atm it stands at a brazen brass and dwarf bronze mix. The gold should follow soon.

He is complete! Ok so the pics aren't that good as the flesh highlights don't really show up and the pic of his face looks odd - I may try again sometime but for now he's finished.

Right the gold was continued from about with inking and shining gold and burnished gold with a slight highlight of mithril silver into the mix. I also added a small line of flesh wash either side of the beard decorations to try and give them a bit of depth.

His base is done with a base of chaos black and red gore for the armour and adding more and more red for layers before an almost pure red gore foe the highlighting. The skull was done in my usual way - bronzed flesh, flesh wash, bronzed flesh, bronzed flesh + bleached bone. the highlight was done with a small touch of skull white. Unfortuantly the skull is at an odd angle and hard to see and now it has Garagrim glued onto it - so no better pics I'm afraid.

The base was then done with sand and painted with a mix of desert yellow and graveyard earth then a mix of bubonic brown was drybrushed on (hard to spot). The sides have bestial brown and not bubonic mixed it.

And he's done. C&C welcomed.
