The sword on the second one is way too big.
Big swords constitute Anima style, so do school-girls and an abundance of tormented non-macho heroes.
Re: Anima Tactics news
Well, I can accept or tolerate the sword, but am not fond of it.
For me Christmas could be in any season. I am not really stubborn about always having it in winter

Re: Anima Tactics news
I like anime style yet Anima tactics have not really spiced my interest... also its getting a bit too crowded in anime styled kind of minis lately.

anyway, I'm not anime expert, but I've seen anime movies/comics/drawings with swords of a lesser size

Anime style has several diferent expressions mate, its not as linear as people tend to believe. Much like any art expression theres several nuances... yet big swords is more common than realistic sized weapons in anime... the realism take is the exception.

Re: Anima Tactics news
I'm not even searching for realism... 95% of fantasy minis have unrealistic weapons I suppose.
What I am looking for is something that looks cool and does not overpower, change the balance or ruins proportions of a mini.
let me show another A:T mini

not the fan of sculpt, but that doesn't matter here. exaggerated sword? yes, but it fits my requirements listed above.
sword on the new sculpt we're discussing looks like taken from another mini. and that bothers me.
I can see your point guys, that exaggeration is one of anime style characteristics. But, what looks good in 2D (just checked some drawings) does not always transfers properly to 3D.
Everything said here is IMO ofcourse, YMMV.

Re: Anima Tactics news
Better not enter the 3d to 2D or the 2D to 3D debate here my ramblings would be boring this board to death...
Lets just say in 28mm miniatures its not the the fact its a 2d or 3d piece that makes a style more enjoyable to you or not... but maybe? rather the cast/production simplification limits and the actual reduced scale that blows out of the water some sculpt options. In theory 2d should be a snapshot of one of the 3D multiple faces so they should in theory be identical
Anime crazy big weapons is one of the most popular/common charateristics with slim gals handling swords 3 times bigger than them etc so the "problem" is not the translation to 3D (even if this scale has the limitations I posted earlier) its just the style... Some figs you consider your boundries to achieve a good balance are broken and thats OK... the concept pushed the anime traces far from your preferences.

Re: Anima Tactics news
boring? hell no, I'd love to hear some words on it from someone experienced in sculpting.
Re: Anima Tactics news
We're talking sword sizes now? For me insanely large swords are one of the main marks of Anime genre, so I don't feel bad about it. It's just most of the AT sculpts don't do "it" to me. The thing that turns "nice mini" into "I want to have this".
