Re: Scott Radom's stuff.
Thanks for the response! I sent the mesage so hopefully I can get one of those mini's soon. Some nice stuff on his page as well. That "Cherry" spider model is very tempting as well!

Re: Scott Radom's stuff.
I painted this for a comp over on WAMP that had a theme of "Blue". I painted this guy using blue as a shade in all the colours, and some of the highlights where I could. Only the face is done differently using red as a shade to dry and focus-ify it. Any thoughts? Wierd thing about the pic is I am having trouble with the head on shot. I've tried it a bunch of different ways and switched background a couple times but something is wierd. It destroys the gem effect I went for on the lenses completely plus a bunch of other stuff. It's wierd. It's not SUPER far off real life or anything, but the bottom pic is the most accurate. I don't get it. not ground breaking on this one. I tried to improve on the winter base I had tried a month or so ago and I liked painting the jacket. Anyway...

Re: Scott Radom's stuff.
this one is cool, color match together !!
may be you should ad some lining (near to black but not black), to point out each part of the mini
don't you think the sword has a strange shape

Yeah, that sword is a little.... uhm.... well.... I was tempted to go for purple.
Good point about the seperation. I used a very dark blue shade, I think I could've just used it a little better to seperate the parts as you say. Really something I need to incorporate on all my mini's. Next one!

Re: Scott Radom's stuff.
good choice of colors and smooth painting overall but there's one thing that bothers me: the folds on the back of his cloak seem to be highlighted from both the top and the bottom... looks weird...

Re: Scott Radom's stuff.
Thanks guys!
Corvus- The jacket at the rear below the belt sort of billows out a bit, then fold back in some, then billows out again at the bottom. That's why i've got the highlights in two places like that. Could have either emphasized it more, or maybe less, to go with the sculpture though. Good point!

I find very strong upper light on those photos. Have you tried to use more dispersed light? I dare to say that I have problems with objective judging some parts, especially when they are extremly lighten - like metalic parts.
Besides that - you have some really nice minis here. Show more!
Cheers,
Sz.

Re: Scott Radom's stuff.
I did this up for a challenge over on WAMP. Thanks Smackman for the AOBR Nob! The pirate head is from a company called MaxMini. It didn't fit for shit so it took a bunch of milliput to smooth out the join. Even then I just sorta left it. The challenge theme was "Choppa" So I painted this dude. I thought about mounting him on a base that looked as if he was stepping off a lotted Valkyrie or something, then I thought that would be expensive and tough. So screw it. Here's the dude.

Wish me luck!
Note: Szary, I used different Camera setting on this one. I had my camera light setting to +.7 and I used 0 this time. Is it better? My light is pretty diffuse, so I don't think it was it. Hopefully this is an improvement in pics. TY!
