This mini was my first attempt to monochrome techniques - I've tried to achieve look of old-school-horror movies, stylized in sepia tones with strong focus on colour pumpkin. It was really pleasure to paint and was finished in two wonderfull afternoons.
And as always - any comments, ideas or critics are welcome...

Great looking mini and the brightening of the pumpkin has really helped bring out the model from good to great.

I think you've done a grand job on the monochromatic feel of the mini. I quite liked the model when i first saw it but your paint job has made me really really like it

some harsh transitions on the back of the cloak, and I don't understand the lighting coming from the pumpkin. guess it's a magical pumpkin

really cool looking piece Le6n!
oh, I think there's a mistake in word "Monstrous" on the pic.

About the pumpkin - you never put candle in the pumpkin during halloween night? Me neither, but I think, this is the point of halloween pumpkin. And yes, there's mistype, but I really don't want to re-upload the pictures. I hope Scibor & Demi won't beat me

actually, I did that once

and IIRC, light was not going through its walls/skin, only through holes cut (i.e. eyes, nose and mouth). You have painted it so that pumpkin's skin glows, not some candle inside (all holes are dark).

Yesss, that's the magic of fantasy painting

I think I was inspired by some pictures on internet, where the pumpkin was glowing soooo bright. I liked the idea of contrast between flashing pumpkin and old-style-fashioned-sepia-toned monster. I knew, that someone will discuss this

I'm not discussing the contrast between the pumpkin and monster. Actually, I really like that element.
What I discussed was source of the light. You went with fantasy approach - I can understand and accept your justification.

I can understand your point of view and agree with you. This mini wasn't one, I was thinking too much about it. I just prepared some pre-visualisation based on that contrast between monster and pumpkin style and painted it that way. I really enjoyed the process and I like the result, even if there's unlogical element there...
