and yet another WIP
The face, the axeblade and the robe are finished. The rest still needs a lot of work.

well it's been a long time since I've updated this topic. The andrea dwarf has long been finished and stands stubborn and firm in the local shop. I hope to get the chance to take pics some day soon.

Anyway, I started on yet another Andrea fig yesterday after a long time of planning. The plan is to make a knight out of the "guldensporenslag". A medieval battle which took place in 1302 here in what's currently called Belgium.
The battle was between France and the Flanders and the flemish even won. (:metal:)

So the initial plan was to paint up a belgian knight. But I couldn't figure out any decent colorschemes to come up with the heraldry of the flemish lion that wouldn't involve red or black and yellow. (I really wanted to avoid those colors) Plus I'm not confident enough to paint this lion as freehand yet.

So I decided to go for a french knight ("leliaart") The heraldry of them was a bit easier to paint:

So far the mini looks like this (not the best pic)

I know now the face needs more shading and more defenitions. But I'm really happy with the way the blue is turning out. I decided not to go for a strong pure blue, but for a blue leaning to the greenish side. I still need to shade a bit more here and there, and maybe create some hotspots where the most light will catch.

I'm not sure yet if this is gonna be a 'before the battle' or 'after the battle' version. But I'm leaning more towards an 'after the battle' look.

I'm working on the knight, but I can't get myself to painting the fluers de lys. yellow + tons of lys and not so decent freehand skills are not so good for the motivation :?

Anyway, I'm also working on Airtis:

bigger pic: CLICK

Skin is basecoated with VMC brown Rose + VMC Yellow Ochre + Kommando Khaki (40 + 20 +40)
Highlights: Adding Elf flesh + bonewhite, bonewhite and eventually offwhite.
Shades: Snakebite leather, beasty brown, dark flesh + some purple and eventually VERY thin black.
Rehighlighted some spots with pure offwhite after the shading

Hope you like it so far.

Very cool skin on a very cool mini (got to buy myself one)-what scale is that?

54mm scale, but the miniature itself is around 30mm. It's a gnome after all ;)

thanx for the comment :)
