There's always been a crossover between the historical modellers and the fantasy guys; i know, I'm one!!!

They do notice them....because I make sure they do!

Vincenti has all but given up Historicals other than commission work. And he's strictly a 40K man

Jaume painted Yarry while teaching his brother and girlfriend to paint, and they prefer fantasy over historical!

Enigma are noticed by the H guys because they are sculpted by Raul Garcia Latorre, who for years has been making miniatures for originally Andrea, then Enigma and now Latorre Miniatures, his own company. He's one of the most famous of historical modellers around!

Joaquin Palacios who has sculpted the Andrea Warlord range has for years sculpted some of the historical range. With David Rodriguez (ex-heavy metal painter) joining and also JPMN they've seen a good gap in the market for larger scale fantasy figs comparable to the historical range.

Many historical guys have got the Warlord figures.......whether they paint them is another matter!

It's all cool; it's all the same hobby at the end of the day (for years I painted historical in oils.......and fantasy in acrylics......because that was what you did!)

Very interesting insight, Rob. Thanks lots for explanations.

As for the minis presented - they were all very good, with many really excellent. Gollum, the next miniature, the japanese girl, the frogs, the historicals, the high elf, or the giant... all are great finds! thanks :)

I only partially agree Orb. There surely have been individuals painting/sculpting both fantasy and historical models. Still, it was not until recently, that I felt that this crossover is becoming more of a trend, then separate cases. IMHO it also concerns mainly fantasy painters moving to historical models.

Latorre is older than Enigma, so the order of RGL's work should be a bit different ;)
BTW, I talked to Raul once, and he told me, that Enigma is going back to his roots for him, as fantasy has always been hist first love :)
