I think I just voted every entrie... if I had to resume all that I have seen and voted in one word i would say.... FIASCO!

I mean... IMO this suffers from the place were it was held US... The majority of entries lack everything, no imagination, badly executed and almost everything is space marinzzzz centered... Looks like a average US GD.
After I voted i felt like it was a waste of time... really its very low standart, no variety and 90% is 6 scored... 7% is 7 or 8 and the remaining 3% 9.

Huge disapointment.

same for me - poor photos, most entries I've seen didn't impress me too much, so I eventually stopped checking them. maybe I missed some jewels, but I lost patience and felt it was a waste of my time.
it's good I didn't even try to vote...

Some people couldn't even vote because the login didn't work on a few browsers (Chrome and Safari for Mac that I know of, possibly more). I was one of these.

Pictures were terrible, and only some were taken close enough to truly evaluate the blending on them. Some look good from far away, but up close not so much.

I hope that some of the better entries will go up on CoolMini, with photos taken by the artist. I know that several of them were submitted by people who regularly post on CoolMini (Wappellious, Haley, Banshee, dieguete, mrika, JRN, Todd Swanson, akaranseth, and probably others I have forgotten) or their own websites, but there was some great stuff painted by artists I'm not familiar with from online (like the Elrond someone linked before—as well as several other awesome entries—painted by Rick Taylor, and a blood angels chaplain painted by Sam Lenz). If they do have an online presence that I'm just not familiar with, please point it out to me, as I'd love to see more stuff they've done! Personally, I will upload my entries on CMoN (although I may skip the harlequin, as I wasn't very happy with him and consequently didn't put in the effort to do him well).

I, too, was disappointed in the photography. Subtlety, especially, did not come out well in the photographs, and I fear that Marike in particular will not do as well as she deserves as a result. Her "Kraken Priestess" (Al-Vianna) was amazing to behold in person, but the photographs of it were decidedly ordinary. When scoring entries, it was really helpful to have already seen them in person, as I'm sure you can imagine!

not only ordinary, but bad - the photos are way too small and the face is out of focus....

and it's not the only entry butchered this way...

I have not yet seen any of the entries, but with names like these we should be amazed with quality of the contest level. if we are not, the pics quality is not just poor, it must be terrible :)
I am now afraid to check the gallery ;)

would we discuss it at all if the prize was "2 minis from our range" or "50$ voucher from shop X"?

Luckily, it didn't matter in the end, as she still placed first. :)

There was no standard when it came to taking ictures, some entries got 1 pic, some got 6, it was a load of BS from the beginning. I did my best to vote on all the models but some you could see detail on the back but no back pic.
