My new miniature. This one is not for learning purposes, but for a gift, so I want to make it as good as possible. That's why so soon photos from WIP. If someone has some suggestions, for highlight etc, please share

. For now it's only basecoat and first shadow. I've included photos with strong light (plus overlay layer on top). The skin color is correct on first photo. I had some profile problems and I noticed it too late.
ps. The cloak is NOT painted! I'm having some problems with 2-3 paints and I wanted to check if changing thinning liquid can help. It didn't change anything and paints still dry chalky.
EDIT: One question. Should I paint ALL shadows? There is "natural" shadow under the arm (the one without hand). Should I paint there darker skin, or leave it as it is?

the over all idea is to create a shadows wher they are (realy) by making places darker - but not black - just darker like in RW top parts wil l be brighter when under parts darker - end betwen yuo will got a "real" skin color not affected to much by lifght (ot lack of it)
in the stage in wich you are now it is usualyt done by washing with "jouces" (or how it that called) - to add colors end definicions to collors end lights
hym .. Read this Tutorial

(much easer then trying to get what i whant to sey

you're getting it right. of course you need some more work on all parts of this mini.
yes, you should paint shadows even if they're naturally there - because if the mini is rotated, you want the shadows to remain where you placed them. think of the miniature as 3-dimensional canvas. you paint shadows and lights on canvas and so you do on a mini.
the cloak is not bad IMO, but you will need to pull the contrasts higher somehow. I think there are two options - glazes of black ink in shadows, or pull the highlights up, until they look a bit exaggerated. there are nice folds on the cloak and it's a pity not to use them more effectively.
the skin is pretty fine now. expecially the parts I marked.

I think some parts could use some more contrast, and I prepared a quick presentation. Just more highlighting and some shadow below.

I haven't touch the body parts, but I see what you are talking about. Different light on those two photos.

I never intended to make it gold. It's suppose to be fiery elements on the helmet. There is so many NMM tutorial online, that I surely won't mix wrong paints for gold

I have a long Christmas break, but here is the latest (almost) photo. I painted boots, glove and some fur (that is so bad, that I don't show you any photos:)) Both boots and glove are only shaded, not highlighted.

As I stated before, (hellboy)arm and boots are only shaded. Both will be highlighted soon

. As for boots, it's good idea to add some other paint in the shadows... I'll try this in the weekend.
